What about the shows? Did something interesting happen, or would you like this thread removed. :)

I don't know I saw it last night but wasn't in a position to answer her. I started to answer it but had to get out and was going to do it today. She wrote a great e-mail with the name of her handler and all.... So don't know where it went either....

I received two emails from two different dog people who advised me that it was not a good idea to put speculation about shows on the net which includes identifying yourself or your dog.
They told me that judges come through and sometimes base their opinions on what is written whether it be good or bad. So it is best laid to rest.
Thus, I decided to take out that message.
Thanks, I'm glad some did enjoy reading it.
I'm no different than anyone else who just wants a fair shot.

It goes to show how the system is broken.:( I'm not sure how a judge would identify you or your dog in the ring from a post unless you put your picture up in the post with the speculation, but the IDEA that a judge would carry that to the ring is nauseating. When I was at the New Mexico dog show on balloon fiesta weekend, I was standing beside the stewards table waiting to get a number. The judge was speaking to another judge who stood beside me outside of the ring, right next to the row of chairs with spectators. My Judge To Be stated loudly, "Do you know what drives XXXX (handler's name should be here) crazy?" the other judge replied, "No, what?" My judge laughed and said, "When you pull 'em out in Group then DUMP them!!! Ha Ha Ha...I'll show you this afternoon!", to which the other judge replied, "Okay! That'll really burn XXXX up!". :eek:My jaw hit the ground. This judge went on to put up a 3 year old bitch that she could not even touch. Then did exactly what she had said she would do to the handler in Group. I'm not sure how bad the economy needs to get before scraping this kind of fecal material out of the financial barrel, but I do hope that the Tucson show have at least a bit of rationality, and hire judges that will make the competitors WANT to return to the show's next venue. Myself, I think that I will need to seriously review my show choices. Granted, with all the substitutions due to H1N1, it's hard to say what you will get. But driving for 8 hours (or in my case 16) to get there, then to find this kind of judging fodder, is doing considerable damage to our sport. And as for the two judges in question, SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!! oh, and READ THE STANDARDS, DON'T INVENT YOUR OWN EVEN THOUGH YOU PROFESS IN THE RING TO BEING AN EXPERT BECAUSE YOU HAD A DOBE IN THE SEVENTIES!!!!!!:mad: Maybe, just maybe, someday judges will get back to judging the dog in accordance with the standard. I've said this for years now, and everyone tells me that it'll NEVER happen.:(

I know that other lists posts specialties and tell people what the counts are to let folks know that it is getting close and to enter as it is close. I know the count for Tucson but don't want to do anything wrong....
There are good judges out there and like anything else, bad ones also. It doesn't matter what the sport, look at the Suns and Dallas playoffs....Ref threw it for them and the Suns were not able to get it back. Suspended players can't help a team win...... I don't know the judges in Tucson, they are some that I don't remember my dog ever going in the ring to them.

I've heard that the Tucson show is about half way to making a major. They are asking everyone that is considering to please enter. Just passing info along...:)

Brenna I agree on the certain good old boy judges. Make note on them and NEVER show to them again.....I keep a list of them and refer to the list when I'm not sure. Everyone deserves a look in the ring not just the big boys or girls.
Tucson: As of Thurs there was 7 dogs and 9 bitches for the morning show. 6 dogs and 8 bitches for the afternoon show. It takes 15 dogs and 21 bitches for a 3 pt major and they feel they will make it. Check Best in Show and ask how the entries are going. 1-800-247-7005 There are so many wanting a major it is important to enter. They are a great supportive group down in Tucson.

We need some photos from this show too. I would think it would be a lot of fun this time of year.

The Tucson shows ended up majors. Bitches a 4 pt major and dogs missed a 4 pt by one dog unless one entered at the last minute. Should be a good show to watch.
Since I will be only one handed running a camera will be tough. Will see who I can rope into taking some pictures of the specialty. Hopefully that will be the day that my husband can go and that will solve the problem.
