It's with an incredibly heavy heart that I tell you that my beloved Emma left me sometime this afternoon between 5 and 6 o'clock. Emma died in her crate, apparently very peacefully. I am heartbroken.

I dont even know what to say.
Emma left peacefully no doubt knowing she was very much loved, very much spoiled and had the most wonderful life with you.
I am so very very sorry.

Oh Athy… I am so sorry to hear this. It is never easy to let them go… there will always be a place in your heart for Emma. Take comfort that she knew she was loved… you gave her the greatest gift you can give.

Thank you, ladies. I am shocked and devastated. She ate a good breakfast this morning, raised hell with her brothers, barked at the horses - it was a good day. And now I can't believe my little girl is gone :(

I haven't gone more than three days without a red girl in my house since 1989. I am lost.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. My last two (black) boys died just as yours did: in the very middle of their lives, running and playing and being real, and the 2 before that..... blue juice and sudden death while I was gone.

I too, am missing the magic even tho I've filled my bed and patched my heart w/ rescues.

I 'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I recently lost my red girl.
I do have wonderful memories as I'm sure you do as well.
Take comfort that she lived a wonderful life and was loved by you.

They never really leave us, they are always in our hearts and waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge.

Thank you for your kindess, Sheila. Emma has been in my thoughts today with all these snow drifts.

We had a huge snowstorm like this years ago, snow drifting all over the place. So I went out, dug the stairs from the deck out, dug paths, dug out a little potty area and then finally let my three dogs out: Rhonda, Farley and Emma. The two older dogs (Rhonda and Farley) stopped at the edge of the deck and just refused to go out into it. Emma on the hand came barreling out of the door and literally took a dive off the deck, directly into the snow bank! There was actually a plume of snow where she went in!

After 'swimming' around in the snow for a few seconds, she buckled down to business and did potty but I'll never forget that image of that red girl just all out diving off the deck. She was a wild child!
