If I've got this right, a portion of a parking lot was tented for Agility… for both the event, and for housing the dogs… with the expectation that the weather in Southern CA (in December) would be sunny and dry… and it wasn’t… and there was no contingency plan for if it rained, hard. And, event planners had too few porta potties brought in, and they looked pretty disgusting by the end of the day (or whenever it was that they were photographed).
Hmmm? I don't really understand what the hell happened. Why did it take so long to address the problems? Did that rain all drop in a few short hours? Was the whole area around the venue underwater, so that no one was able to respond… or do Agility people suffer in silence until the water is up to their waist? Why was it ever allowed to get so bad?
How unexpected was that weather pattern for that part of the country at this time of year? And would that have been a desirable facility for Agility even if the weather had been nice? And, how unexpected is it that portapotties will need to be cleaned, often?
I don’t think this reflects indifference or lack of caring about Agility people and dogs… so much as I think it reflects that someone dropped the ball big time. It's hard to read the response from Dennis... but he does seem rather calm. Far as I know, AKC loves the Agility folks, though it’d sure be hard to prove that from the video.
