Hi everyone,
I'm new to DSNN. I've been showing GSD's since 2007, and have earned many international championships, Best Junior Handler Awards, and points. As of August I was am the number 9 GSD junior handler in the country, however unfortunately they probably wont finish calculating points for the end of the year. Below are pictures of my black and tan male DJ, a sable bitch that I co-own, and a couple other dogs I took into the ring. Lately though I have taken a special interest in Dobermans :)

Lauren, your GSDs are absolutely gorgeous! Strength and power and intelligence, all in one package.
My grandmother was a dairy farmer in Pennsylvania (she's gone now for over 30 years, bless her heart). For her, there was no dog but a German Shepherd. She always had one with her. In fact, the last Christmas present I bought her was a ceramic pin with a GSD head painted on it - I still have it, she passed right before that Christmas in '77.
How hard is it to keep their coats in such nice condition? Looks like a lot of work!

Hey there Lauren!!
I started in GSD. My family had them and my mother gave me two imports when I was just 14 yrs old. Cub B. Bear (aka: Bear) and Wicca. Wicca was the toughest bitch and I loved her!! She worked like a machine and just was my lovely black and tan girl. Bear was a black girl and big!! With a kind and sweet temperment.
Both of them were just wonderful dogs and taught me so much about training and dogs in general.
I love DJ, you know that!! His head is just beautiful!!! I have the privilage of being able to see him and have gotten to know what a sweet and good boy he is.
The shots of Pagan you all have seen lately are with Lauren. Lauren has a great ability with the Dobes. The girls and Pagan adore her. She works them for me at class every week.
Rowan tests her a bit...but Rowan tests everyone!! Just ask Michelle!!LOL!

Thanks Cheryl
It's not that hard to keep them in coat...but if you keep them inside it is harder. I usually mist my dogs, brush up the coat, and let them go outside for a while. Bitches are harder to keep in coat because they blow it right before they come into season.

Hello Lauren!!! Welcome.
I do have one question about GSDs. What is the purpose of their unique gait?

Hello Lauren!!! Welcome.

To be able to take care of a flock of sheep for a long period of time lol....
Below is what everyone in our breed strives for in movement for a GSD

This goes into why their rears and croups are so low. German bred GSD's have awful rears, Americans try and fix that but some take it to the extreme. The suspended gait (all 4 feet off the ground) shows how effortless a dog's gait is, which fullfills the purpose in which a GSD was bred to do

Yep it is Diesel Cheryl....Diesel was our BOB, Grand Victor, and Maturity Victor at the National last year, and he was also BOS, Grand Victor, and Maturity Victor up at the Canadian National last year, the only dog in GSD history to win GV and MV in both countries and in the same year (all accomplished at 2 1/2 years of age). He is also the sire to DJ, which is the first litter out of him, the breeder I got him from bred to Diesel before he was even a champion. Diesel was also a Select 2 at the U.S. National this year, but he is now retired. I have had the great honor of working such a strong, powerful, and perfect specimen on more than one occasion :):):)

Do you have a photo of Kanya ( think that is the spelling? ) too? I am sure Mike won't mind you posting it. :)
I have seen this dog in person, excellent example of a GSD. He has a lovely temperment also.
You can see it in his sons, DJ and Kanya.
DJ looks a lot like his daddy. Such heads and expressions!!!
Thanks Lauren!

I'm not exactly sure how you spell his name, but it's pronounced like Kanye West lol. Khanye and Diesel are actually litter brothers...the first picture is Khanye and the second is Diesel.
