At one of my first dog shows with Elaine we ran into Dave and Sandy Frei grooming their class dog “Cisco” a.k.a. Ch. Calais Sunrise at Stormhill. Cisco was a black masked red ( I think that’s what you call his color). I fell in love with him and the Afghan breed.

Fast forward a few years, Cisco had won the Breed at the Afghan National... and Elaine and I met Ms. Karen Wagner... the breeder of Ch. Pahlavi Putting On The Ritz (a.k.a. Taco). Taco is one of the most influential Afghan sires in history, featuring prominently in the pedigrees of many of the top winning Afghans in the USA and around the world. Though Taco passed away years ago, there is still some of his frozen semen. Here below are photos of a litter of his, whelped over a year ago. There was a bitch from this litter that we had the good fortune to see on the Tarheel this past March. If/when we ever get out of Dobermans, I will be knocking on Ms. Wagner’s door for a puppy.

Wow, they sure look different as pups. I don't know what I was expecting. :o very cute.
I have a question. What is the purpose of stacking them on those blocks of wood?

The blocks are supposedly a training tool. I would guess that the idea is to teach the dog what it feels like to stand four - square. I think they were popular for a while, several years ago. A set of blocks came in a brief case and cost a few hundred dollars, as I recall (at least for a Doberman size set) We do not use them, never really saw the advantages of using them. Maybe someone who does can tell us about the plusses.

Taco is still the top specialty winning dog of all time, top producing sire of all time and people still stop Karen Wagner at shows to talk about their experience when seeing Taco for the first time. Taco is in most of the pedigrees throughout the world. He's current litter is 18 months old and doing very well.

I have seen the video of him winning the group at Westminster. I love that dog
