I just got Kelly Marquis’ handling schedule for the next few months and saw Bill Shelton on her schedule for the March 26th New Brunswick KC show in Edison, NJ. We are thrilled to hear that Bill is back judging… I’d show to him any where anytime. Unfortunately, it will be months and months before we have a dog old enough to show, and he has to buy us a house first. okay bad joke :D
I may not agree with every decision Bill makes, but I value his opinion of a dog. Bill is one of the few judges you can go to after the judging, and he can tell you with almost perfect recall why he placed each class the way he did. Trust me, there are judges who can’t remember what they did when they turn to mark their books.:p

You are such a goon!!! That's funny, but not quite the point... it was more that years ago Bill and I spent time together, we were close friends, so if Arthur and I won under him now someone might crawl out from under a rock and say, "but you spent time with him here or there." It was just a joke. Bottom line, there are all sort of people in dogs that I know much better than the judge that pointed to Wah.
Bill did not loose his judging license. After a few years of judging, at the height of success as a much in demand judge, Bill simply gave up judging, and went back to a very successful career showing dogs. He has had generations of Top Corgis for years now, but he has also had considerable success in Giant Schnauzers, Dobermans, Foxhounds and many other breeds. Those who know Bill know the details of why he walked away. Get to know him, he is very straightforward about things. Bottom line, it was Bill’s choice to walk away from judging. We all always hoped he’d return to judging at some point in time. Bill is one of the most accomplished and knowledgeable people you will ever run across in dogs… it would be a privilege to show to him, I would value a win under him. Abe. you are great with emails... contact Bill. Get to know him. You will learn more from Mr. Shelton than any twenty people I can think of.

Shelton is the deal!
I just recieve info about that also Elaine and I am just doing back flips!
Excellent judge with an eye for what is correct in a Doberman...in my opinion.

I am also thrilled that Bill is back judging. I have never shown a Doberman to him but he finished my favorite Bullmastiff at a specialty. He told me she was the only one with "type" and she deserved to be rewarded for that.
The next time I showed to him it was at Bullmastiff Nationals and he put one of my puppies first in a large class and then gave another of my bitches an AOW, so he is definitely one of my favorites. He's also just a very nice man. hopefully I will have a Doberman to show him someday that he will like.

How does one contact Mr Shelton? After reading all the encomiums on DSNN, I certainly would like to acquaint myself and expand my klnowledge base. Possible?

No seriously the gentleman seems to have an impeccable reputation from a competitive point of view its fantastic to have judges who know their stuff and who will call it fair

Again, I did not see the deleted post, but please accept my apologies for making a post that suggested that the bitch was available, when apparently she was not.

Abe I love you… you know that. And while it’s true that I may have implied that some of your email inquiries related to a particular topic were bat guano, I never said that was true of all of your writings in general. Your show reporting’s were stellar, astute, insightful, brilliant, bordering on defamatory (as good reporting often is):p ... and so accurate and on point that they can not be published. Bottom line, you’re a bright guy, Bill is a bright guy… he is someone worthwhile for you to get to know.

Bill will love me for this... but go to MBF http://www.infodog.com/showinfo/juddir.htm and do a search for him under the AKC judges. They will have contact info for Bill.

We are sooooooooo lucky to have him for the all breed next weekend at the Cluster in Scottsdale.....Of course I've retired Cayenne so he won't be in the ring this year.....Finally a good honest guy in the ring who's opinion should be interesting.... We all Love Bill out here both as a handler and Judge. Hopefully will have him next year....But he is busy since he is so well thought of.....
