John Schoeneman won the Breed in Dobes today, with his lovely red bitch, Ch. Allure Envy Me Royalwoods v Schohaus, who was bred by Carmen Pitss and Michael and Renee Holth. Envy is a lovely bitch and this was a very competitive win. I am sure that John and his wife Lori are still on Cloud Nine. (Btw, if you get a chance to sit ringside with John and Lori take it. John is very candid, insightful and funny, though he will swear you to secrecy, so I can’t repeat a thing he said. :D;) )

I was able to photograph the entire Dobe entry (61 Dobes entered)… and will post photos, but it will take time to compress them and then go back an label them, so bear with me. I will post them in order, from 6-9 Puppy Dog through to the Breed. I should note, it is notoriously difficult to get photos in the building on this show ground… it is simply too dark in the building. In order to see the dogs I have had to lighten the photos quite a bit, which washes out the colors. These are the best I can do.
Overall there were many excellent dogs and a depth of quality in many of the classes... my only concern for the breed is that we seem to have mastered the art of “the stack”... but when the dog moves, sadly, for many, the picture falls apart. Coups and tail sets are a problem, and you see dogs with no reach or drive. Also, our standard calls for "heavy bone." It really doesn't matter how "pretty" or "showy" the dog is, if it is too light boned and too refined, it can not do the job a Dobe was bred to do.
Here is the 6-9 Puppy class, Phil’s puppy #39 (shown by Gwen DeMilta)won the class, Connie Alexander’s puppy #17 is second (btw, Connie is on the ballot to judge our 2011 National) and Paula’s Trotyl puppy #61 was third.
