My latest foster boy is a big old piggy boy (was 105 lbs, now down to 100 and we're still dieting) - he is a brute. He has a very large cut on his side, required many stitches and it's still healing. We had a huge cone of shame on him and he kept banging it, breaking it open, he even managed to slice it up enough to get to his stitches and tear them all out. So, I was asking some of my fellow DAR&E rescuers and Frank suggested this new ProCollar Premium Inflatable E-Collar. It's working BEAUTIFULLY. He is much more comfortable and mobile. He cannot get to his stitches and so far, he seems much happier about things.

For some injuries, it might not work but it works very nicely for this guy.

Dr Settle sold us one of these collars for Claire after the obstruction surgery. It really seemed like a great idea, but we never got to use it. :( The collar had a defect along one of the seams and it leaked. I will be curious to see how long yours lasts. If it is durable, I think I'll get one just to have around in case of an emergency. :)

Btw, he looks like a very sweet dog, hope he finds a wonderful forever home.

I think we're going to pick two more up, one medium and one large, just to have them handy. So far, we're pleased with this. It's easier for him to drink and eat and sleep too. Petco has them on sale.

He is a nice dog - he's six years old, owners bought him as a puppy, they are now moving to another state and "cannot find lodging that will accept him". So he gets dumped. He is very confused about life in general and getting this injury hasn't helped, poor fella.

He is VERY overweight - did you see the fat roll hanging over his leg in the first picture? The first week I had him he could barely run around the yard. He's now building up some muscle and moving better. He has no training - Christy is working on teaching him "sit". He is housebroken and we have him crate trained now. Now we just need to get his cut healed up...

I completely missed the rolls of fat (which seems to be a recurring theme in my life these days :p). What I saw is a sweet sweet boy with a beautiful smile. Hopefully someone reading this will see his heart and soul.. and make room in their life for him
