On Friday between Surgeon appts and Therapy I received an e-mail and phone call on a rescue dobe needing help. Miss Molly is 4 years old and recently diagnosed with Diabetes.....Of course the owners wanted her put down. Luckily after a few days they consented for her to be treated and rehomed. It took the them almost 7 weeks to stablize her and have her ready for a new forever home. Well she is going to New Mexico with Debby on Tues and she is very excited to have her. We had never given shots before and a friend came and taught us to give her the insulin twice a day and we were good to go.

This was my first incounter with the Pilots N Paws organization. They flew Molly from CA to Phoenix and came to the closest airport to me for me to pick her up and spend a few days. Vince the pilot kept me updated right up to takeoff so my schedule was down pat. This fellow is such a nice guy, helped me load her stuff and her since she is a big girl. Last night I was contacted by Will for her 5:30 am flight on Tues morning and he also is coming to the nearest airport again to pick her up. She will be in her forever home by noon on Tues. If any of you have the opportunity to work with these selfless folks you will be the lucky ones.

Miss Molly is loving the interaction with my two Doberkids and Jim and I are enjoying her company.....

Judie,
What a wonderfull story. Hopefully Miss Moley's diabetes can be controlled and she has a good quality of life thanks to your assistance. Pilotsnpaws seems like a great idea.

There website is www.pilotsnpaws.org

The organization that saved Molly and made the arrangements for her are: wwwdobermanassistance.org These folks are also great and spared no expense to make her well before she was well enough to fly over. We took her to the dog park early yesterday and she ran until she was pooped. It was a great site to watch her run full out with my dogs....

She left Phoenix this morning and hated to see her go. Her forever mom has her in her hands by now....we are just waiting to hear she has landed..... The pilots have head sets for the dogs so they don't hear the engine noises along with special seatbelts to anchor them down....They thnk of everything.

It was a great experience for my husband and I and I've told them we would gladly help them anytime.
