Sport Work

I was a tad annoyed this AM when I opened a CD(for the first time in ages)to read an attack on those of us that actually work our dobes.
I have not seen the Alltal commercial of a dobe doing sleeve work, but that was the stimulas for the blanket statement that those of us that do Sport Work with our dogs are the issue.

I took acception to that and made my point that the only reason this breed is here today is because of one man's need for the a good personal protection dog and if the dog can't do what it was created to do, what's the point????
They can be as pretty as you want stacked, but they also should be able to do their job. If my guys like the Sport, they go to that next and I am proud to say it. Not everyone should have or needs a dog that does this type of work, clearly. The pont is they should be able to do it.
A few folks on CD seem to think we need hard coated Goldies.....sorry, not for me!!!

I agree that we should not turn our backs on the characteristics the make a Doberman a Doberman.

Btw, I have not seen the discussion on CD, I have zero interest in reading CD (to understand why, simply take a look at Hot Topics and see all the people who have been maligned by McNealy over the years, I will not support CD) That said, this is being discussed on the DPCA list. I saw the Alltel commercial last night... I think it panders to a stereotype of our breed that feeds on the public’s fear of Dobermans. Personally, I would like the ad pulled.
