There is a saying in breeding, that we all should pay more attention to... “look to the breath of your pedigree, not the depth.” The littermates of a dog will tell you more about what the animal will produce than either sire or dam.
I was goofing around on the internet and came to this website for Janice McGerr and Rojan Dobermans. http://rojansdobermans.com/rojans_001.htm Janice is special to us (you have only to read about our bitch Lizabeth to understand why). So, from time to time I check out what’s new with Janice.
Gotta say, the Rojan Doberman website annoys the bejezzus out of me, but I’ll get to that in a moment. Look at the superb quality of dogs that Janice has bred. How many breeders have had her success? Janice's 2004 Dagger & Tease litter alone produced four champions, including two Best In Show bitches, one of whom was the number 1 Doberman in the country for 2006, BIS Ch. Rojan’s Dream of Tibet (a.k.a. Ada). Ada’s littermates are Ch Rojans the Glimmer Man , Ch Rojans Executive Decision and Ch Rojans Into the Sun
We see Ada from time to time at Carmen’s.. what a beautiful bitch... glorious and more mature than when she was out in the ring. Ada was very young when she was being Specialed; people in the breed haven’t gotten a chance to see her at maturity, which is a shame, because she is gorgeous. Too bad she is not out in the ring now, she would give Reigny a run for the money.
As nice as Ada is, Carmen says that two of her littermate sisters are even nicer. And then there is Janice’s black male Ch Rojans the Glimmer Man (a.k.a. Uno). Not only is Uno a lovely, square black dog with oodles of virtue in his own right, look at the quality of his pedigree, from a litter of BIS bitches. Like BIS CH. Eastwick’s Meadow Monster, Uno is a Dagger son...and we’ve seen what Monte has produced. It might be worth it for breeders to take a look at Uno.
Which brings me back to what bothers me about the Rojan website... there is no button for Uno... in fact, I’m not sure that Janice even has a page for him... and Janice does NOT shout from the roof tops about her accomplishments as a breeder, which annoys me :p
