My first show yielded Tabitha (our toy fox terrier) a major win. On top of that, the local news featured her on their report of the dog show!!! I thought this was going to be an easy finish for Tabitha. She was a tv star, took winners bitch her first time out at 6 months old, and was a total diva. Boy was I wrong. We showed her on a limited basis and had to wait another year or so for her next major. Rude awakening. In all she took 7 BOB's and I think 5 BOS's. So anyway that was my introduction to dogs shows.

Wow!!! That's a pretty impressive start to all of this! :)
I don’t even remember my first show, but I think it was with a Lhasa Apso.... and I don't really remember how I did, other than I did not win the points. :D As I recall, the Lhasa ring in my area back then was pretty brutal... there was a mother daughter team that really ran things... and they could be nasty. e.g., one of them kicked the back legs out from under my dog as she turned to set up her dog behind me  I was a newbie and didn't have a clue how to handle it. Mom and daughter pretty much made the Lhasa ring unbearable to be around. After surviving them, other breed folks have been charmingly civilized by comparison. :p

Quite sure this was the first show we ever entered.
My husband, with one handling course under his belt, felt he was ready. ?????
Entered was our first bitch who had just turned six months and the whole scenario was hysterical to watch. She decided there was no way she was going to do the go around and sat down twice. Second time husband simply picked her up in his arms and completed running the ring. Being the joker he was, he then asked the judge what she thought of his gait<G>
Not exactly the high point of many shows over the years to say the least but it's something to look back at and have a good laugh about. Oh and we braved a snow storm to get to the show<G>.

My first show I also had my hand smacked! Hey the dog said, "Pet me! Pet me!" The handler said, "I just worked on his coat for 30 minutes!!!" OOOPS!:D
