I was taking photos this morning of Brentina (a.k.a. Ahb) and Titan, when I caught our Crane over the pond out of the corner of my eye. Titan and Ahb caught the Crane too. As I turned to try to capture this magnificent bird on film, they went thundering after the crane. I apologize for the out of focus photos... but this bird is a thrill to see... thought I'd share these.

IN these photos you see a fuzzy blur of Titan in the lower right corner as he takes off after the Crane (upper right corner and enlargement), who is about 40 feet in the air and at least 100 yards away. And you can see Titan and Ahb returning from the Crane Adventure... they never got within 100 yards of the bird, but still seemed to enjoy the thrill of the chase.

Are those some of your flower boxes you have been working on? They look good. Measure twice and cut once or something like that.

Yep -a roonie, those are the flower boxes I made a few weeks back ... and here's the new one from this weekend. Btw, I never quite mastered “measure twice, cut once.” I’m more of a measure, cut, curse the heavens, run back to the Lumber store, measure again... curse to heavens again... :D

But building is in my blood... my IDOL is Norm (of This Old House and The New Yankee Workshop). My idea of THE perfect gift is a compound radial saw with a sliding arm and a laser guide... and a table saw... and a joiner... and a table router... now that’s heaven. :)

Norm rules!!!!! I used to watch The New Yankee Workshop every Saturday morning when I was a young boy. My dad used to make fun of Norm while I watched it.:D He can build some awesome things! But he also has over $100,000 in tools on that show. I asked for a router for Christmas last year and my mother picked out a Bosch router. How cool was that? Bosch tools are high quality. I plan on building new kitchen cabinents and incoprate copper plated steel for the faces. I plan on Tig welding them because welds are so pretty. I am going to give the copper a patina look. I actually thought of using knotty pine for the wood. There is some stuff from minwax that really brings out the grain before you stain it. It makes pine look very very pretty. I will start a similar project soon, an entertainment center. I have all of the drawings made up. I wish I still had AutoCad!!!

My plan is to bring an industrialized look to the primitive antique look. I actually thought of starting a business venture with this idea. One of many ideas that I never acted on.:(

I assume those are some of the forty or fifty rose bushes you mentioned! Are those solar lights in the boxes?

Yes, those are the blasted roses... that now need watering every 5 minutes, who knew? ... and no, those are not lights, but they are basically where the lights will go.
