Last we'd heard, All-breed handler and Whippet breeder DAVIN MCATEER was suspended from all AKC privileges for life by the American Kennel Club’s Management Disciplinary Committee, effective July 7, 2006 and fined $2000, for allegedly attempting to influence a judge (Douglas Shipley) and for the submission of faulty dog registration application.

This morning we heard some very sad news about Davin... anyone know if it's true?

Davin Hampton McAteer, 43, Ocala, FL, died on Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Monroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala. Private cremation is under the care of New Serenity Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., Crystal River, FL.

Clearly there was a lot going on in Davin's life... much of it was not good... I was thinking that it might be nice to have some remembrances of him that are not solely focused on the down side.

I have not seen or spoken to Davin, for quite a few years. 2003-2004 sometime. For some reason I decided to google him and see what he was up to. I found this forum and was completely shocked, bewildered and awesomely saddened by the news of his passing. I first met Davin and his ex, Larry while vacationing in Hawaii with my ex in 2000. At first, we didn't like eachother, but then became very very close. After he and Larry broke up, we decided to take our relationship to a more intimate level and he moved out to Los Angeles with me. For many reasons it couldn't work out and I had to cut ties with him.
Davin, although had a lot of trouble in his life, was one of the most kind, generous and always there for you kind of guy. As I sit and write this through tears of joy remembering and tears of sadness for this loss... I pray that his soul has found peace, love & joy that he so richly deserved in life.
Davin, I love you.
