2009 Dobe National

Does anybody know where the 2009 Dobe National will be held? :confused:;)

Yes, it will be in Kentucky at the same hotel the 2001 and 2004 Nationals were at.

2009 in Kentucky, that sounds ideal.... we can all stay with Tina as our home base. :p

About the 2008 National... we are not planning to go. But, at our club picnic last Tuesday I must say I had a twinge of "second thoughts." Bob Forsyth asked about the 2008 National... wanted to know about when Arthur and I were going, etc. Bob and Jane are going for a day or so, as part of the War Dog presentation... Bob was one of the original trainers during WWII. I know of one or two AKC Board members who are also flying in for a day or so for the War Dog thing. None of these people own Dobermans. Oddly, we (who actually own and show the breed in 2008) are not planning on going. At this point there are too many negatives with 2008 (the expense :(, the judging panel :rolleyes:, the expense:(, the distances :o , the expense :confused:... and did I mention it costs an arm and a leg :eek:). No single consideration is enough not to go, but cumulatively they tip the scales the wrong way. :( But who knows, things can change between now and October. I have informally polled my friends, none are going. At this point I would bet that of all of us, Cathy / Tosca is one of the few that is 100% for sure going to the 2008 National.

Sorry, not Louisville - Frankfort (sp?) Kentucky, just outside Cincinnatti Ohio - convenient to fly into; not nearly as glamorous as Louisville! It's a decent facility wtih reasonable grounds to walk the dogs on.

The 2009 Nationals will be held at the Drawbridge Inn in Fort Mitchell, KY (not Frankfort). You would fly into CVG airport.

I've been to a National twice at this site. I thought it was very adequate and was just curious how others felt about it.

It is so much easier to get to than Kansas... personally, I'd love to get Warkant, Contender, Wei, Q, Wah, Vaako and Titus back together for 2009...
