I showed her. She's a great little kid, and we'll learn a lot together. I respect all of the great handlers in the Northwest, but it's a hobby for me. I love to spend time with these dog babies, and I can't even imagine handing them off to someone else. At least, that's the way I feel at the moment.:D

I think Tina has an idea there.. In anticipation of any future advertising perhaps you could still call her Moose, but spell it Muse. Moose lacks a certain adel, a certain ring of elegance of the beautiful girly dog she will become.

Lovely picture: arched neck, perfect pose, grace, elegance, and the caption, Here's MOOSE.

Lovely picture: Mom in the box with puppies nursing as she looks tenderly at her brood. An automatic gorgeous arched neck, lovely head.. Caption, Moose and her babies.

Moose, the animal made of leftover parts, part horse, part camel, part cow. However lovingly meant, Moose is maybe going to be regrettable for a lovely, elegant, beautiful Dober-girl ad.

Okay, editorial aside, when do we get to see pix of this paragon? Congrats.

Thursday was the regional specialty, today was mt hood's specialty. Today? Dumped! We won the puppy class, but got dumped in the line up. Bah is starting to warm up, so today, she took 2nd in Open AOAC. We'll get there. I wanted to say words of thanks to Cathy (the voice of God), Charlotte, Carla, and most of the helper elves at the specialty. I do hope, someday, to see competitors ENJOYING their sport as much as some of us do. Many angry faces, and many fearful ones. How refreshing to see someone actually laugh when in obedience the dog makes an unexpected departure from the ring!:eek:Wagged his butt the whole time! We will ALWAYS have fun in the ring, regardless of what's going on. When it stops being fun, it's time to quit. And it ain't quittin time yet!!! Miller time...Pete's Wicked time...margarita time!

Thanks for all the support! Pics when I get 'em!!!:D

Congratulations on the great start Brenna! Also great attitude. Best of luck the rest of the weekend with Moose and Bah.

Also just got an email from John Dolan and Moose's litter sister Ava won her 1st point today with Diego showing. I think it was her first time in the ring also.

It's also occasionally you horrible little *@#$^%* punk!!!! Or, for those familiar with children's books, Sandra Boyton has one called Moo Baa La La La. That's been coming to mind lately, too. Need more coffee.....:D But you're right, Moose won't always work, and she does frequently get reminded that she's really my secret little Muse.:o

Hey Brenna,

We're back and trying to catch up.

It was great to meet you too. Moose is one beautiful puppy, and you're handling her quite nicely. Hats off to you!
Congrats on your wins, there will be many more. Good luck Sunday if you're showing.

I agree with you, Cathy was such a champ in OB, very very refreshing!

She is lovely Brenna... really lovely. :)

About the photos, not sure why anyone would have given you that advice... looks like Muse was doing her best to abide by what you were asking of her (bless her heart)... but you almost have to wonder if the advice giver was working with you or against you. :D I guess we all have different views of what the perfect photo looks like. Muse is a bit different than what a lot of breeders out there have been breeding, and they may be at a loss as to what to do. If I were you, I would look at how Diego is stacking Garbo... http://www.aquariusdobermans.com/trotylpuppies.cfm and try to visualize that overall look. Steve Ross (the show photographer who took your photos) was always such a great guy to work with, I'd bet he would have taken any photo you wanted, even if it took some time to get it.

One of the reasons we have photos of what Titan looked like when Andy first got him is that Andy was practicing taking a win photo. He said (and I agree) that you should practice the win photo as much as you practice anything else.

My thoughts on win photos:

What you want:
Ideally what you would want in the win photos is to capture the image you presented to the judge in the ring... in that ultimate competitive moment, when you’re fighting for that win, and you realize it’s basically between you and another equally deserving well- handled dog, so you have to pull out that extra 2 inches of neck... and tense that top-line and rear hard enough to bounce a quarter off of... all the while with the dog pulled up and over its front, looking a bit like a breeding stallion about to mount a mare. In order to accomplish all of this at one time you magically sprout 6 more arms and hands to keep the tail up, the ears up, the dog up on its toes, intensely focused forward... yet supremely confident...owning the ground it stands on...

You want all of that in a win photo.

What You Get:
What you actually get in the photo is a well behaved relaxed dog, a relieved and happy handler and a tired judge, all wanting to get the photo taking over with.

ain't THAT the truth! Muse thinks she's been ripped off though, because she didn't EVEN get the toy the photographer threw!!!:D

Really nice girl, Brenna! It's so hard to get a really good show photo with the photographer rushing to get on to the next winner.

Brenna,
You guys look great. How old is Muse in the photo? That is a great way to start her show career, but don't you know the specialty is always the kiss of death for the rest of the show. Try going last in the specialty and then win the points when it counts.

Arfur, she was born on January 6, so she's 6 months and 11 days in that picture. There was a long involved story with why I was only showing her for the sake of the others (rampant neighbour with baseball bat:eek: hit her on the head out of boredom...much more to this tale...) and I wasn't EXPECTING her to do squat, because she had only been released from the hospital the afternoon before! But she was entered and they needed her for the points. Her sister Ava (Baystar's Charlie's Angels) took her first point that day at a different show, being handled by Diego! You GO Ava!!!! As for the kiss of Death, I'm just delighted my little girl is alove, much less winning!:D:D:D And Bah sends hugs and kisses!

A big congratulations Brenna and Muse!!!
Poor Muse. I can't believe we all have an idiot neighbour like that! I can think of a few things to do with that bat, given the chance.
Give her a gentle hug for me

I couldn't ask for a sweeter, more genuine girl, but gentle? Naw, she likes big ruff rub rubs. She never so much as complained, and gave me everything I asked for in the ring. What a neat little kid! And Muse may be her pretty girl name, but I'll always know that INSIDE, she'll ALWAYS be my Moose!

It's been over a decade, but as I recall, Steve Ross was always great about getting photos out pretty fast. Maybe you should call him. As Brenna says, we'd love to see 'em.

Some of my favorite photos of all time were taken by Steve.... :)
