View Full Version : German Pinscher Puppy?
Hey, folks. The husband went down to the MDSPCA yesterday to pick up what was purported to be a three month old Doberman puppy. Well, this little guy is about 3-4 months old (his milk teeth are just coming out) and he weighs a whopping 11 pounds. I'm thinking we have a German Pinscher. What do you all think?

Not a clue if he's a really really poor Dobe (who's breeder needs a smack up side the head) or a German Pinscher... but he sure is cute. Look at that face... what a sweetheart! Are you going to keep him? IF not, I hope he finds a wonderful home... he looks like a really special little guy... :) He needs a name... how about Squeaker? It's available.
The kids have named him William - as in Sweet William... And he's no squeaker! He has a mighty roar, especially when it's bedtime or when he has one of the cats in his sights. Both cats outweigh him and are bigger than he is but that doesn't seem to bother him!
I found two GP breeders here in Maryland and I sent an email to GP rescue (a national contact.) We'll find him a good home. He's a very sweet little tyke.
I'll probably promote him through DAR&E too. After all, he's really just a Doberman who was left in the dryer a wee bit too long :)

Well, whatever he is, he is a doll baby for sure.
And E1, will you cut it out with Squeaker already? :D The answer is NO!

I had german pinschers. It DOES look like a gp, but the quesion is from WHERE? They are still relativeky rare, so I can't even imagine how it ended up in a shelter! Thanks for snagging the pooch! Karen Mounts (Leilani Dobers) in Texas has dobes and germans. maybe she would be a better judge! Beautiful pup! Have a lovefest!:D

He was found stray in Baltimore City. I contacted the GP rescue folks yesterday. They believe that he is a GP puppy based on the photos I sent them. GPs are relatively rare so they're trying to figure out how he ended up in being lost in the big bad city of Baltimore.
I guess every breed, no matter how small in numbers, has their own BYB element :(

I once had a GP from a breeder in Idaho. EXACTLY the same head! Amazing! :D
He went to the MBDPC match last Sunday and met some folks who show GPs. It appears that darling William is either a very large Min Pin or a small GP. Based on his current weight he may end up being about 30 pounds but we're just not sure.
Either way, I guess he's going to be staying here :)
