Hello,

My name is Laura Jordan from Calgary Alberta.
I am the owner of Baystars A-Team aka. Obie and he was the red collar red male from the January litter. Littermate to Moose.

He is my first dobe, I previously have had shelties. I have also had a Siamese cat - passed away 3 years ago.

I don't show Obie, he was bought on a "pet contract"
He is doing great though, we have already gone through two beginner OB classes and I am looking to do protection work with him - he certainly has the drive!

I am working as a Commercial insurance underwriter and plan to get into aviation insurance later in my career.

I'm not really sure of what else to say except to thank Brenna for tracking me down on another forum and getting me to join up here. I had no contact with any of the other owners out of the litter so it is nice to get in touch.

I'll post pics as soon as i figure out how!

Welcome to the group Laura. I'm another Canadian and live in Toronto. I own Logres' Weihaiwej (VeeVee) who is presently with Elaine Greenwood in NC and working on her American Ch.

Welcome to you Laura.

I think you will find a lot of enjoyment with your dog.

I have your puppy's littermate: Baystar's All In The Family.

Time will tell everything on these dogs.

Feel free to ask away questions here.

I haven't seen any of the fighting which goes on with other forums here. :)

Welcome Laura!!
I'm Elaine, owned by Quincy the Goon (aka Can CH Logres' Voltaire). Tom, myself and 2, 12 year old rescue cats live with Q in Selkirk, Ontario on Lake Erie.
You will enjoy this group. There is humour, great discussions and debates, but no nasty fights.
As there is more than one Elaine, the boss is referred to as E1 and I am E2.:D

Now, question for Brenna: What the heck is on Moose's nose in that picture? Girl, it looks like a blood sucker for God's sake. ROFL
I do not recall you talking about Faith. What a sweetie.
T is regal as always, and Bah, well, she has that look on her face that got me laughing again. Darn she is funny.

Moose, my dear, has a cowlick right smack down the middle of her honker. I call it a BAIT CHANNEL. She thinks it makes her aerodynamic! I thought the picture was funny because THAT'S WHAT I SEE every morning at 3 a.m.:D Apparently she's not the only moose with a mooselick (is that where the Mueslix cereal comes from?)!:p And, Faith, my little hummingbird, is my official Sofa Monitor. All of her whopping 23.5 inches and 55 pounds, she actually rules the house!

Well brenna, I must admit that is a new one to me. Who would have thought there could be one on the shnoz. I thought you would respond she just had a shower and it was a reflection or something.:o
Now, where did you find that picture of me in my black tshirt?

Tell us more about Faith, OK? She looks like she has an interesting story. I want to know everything.

She was something of an infant with special needs. She was a survivor of an emergency c-section, and spent many days in my labcoat pocket. She's healthy and happy, and has a pointy little nose. Some feel she could eat peas out of a coke bottle! She's quiet and reserved, but not shy. My ex was NOT NICE to her (that's one reason he was an EX-I could live with him mistreating me, but DON'T hit my dog!). She's very sweet, and she's the ONLY one Moose bows down to! Moose aint't skeered of Tungsten or Bah, but lil butterfly Faith? Head for the hills! Faith has a pedigree that's mostly marienburg on the maternal side, and soquel on the top side. She's spayed, and might have cardio issues, nothing conclusive yet! Knock on wood. She's 4.5 years old now, and plays agility and hallway/livingroom/dining room/kitchen/hallway nascar...run run run turn left run run run turn left! All four at the same time, little house, hardwood floors, no traction. You get the picture!

Hey, welcome Laura, as you can see, we’re a pretty fun and informal gang of goons... hope we grow on you... kind of like a good fungus. :D

Obie is a sure cute lil' chunk... but I imagine he is not so little now a days, would love to see more photos of him.:)

Thank you all for the welcome!

He was the red (pinkish) collar red boy.
The bottom two pics are him in my basement a month or so after I brought him home.

I'll try and get some pics up on tuesday or so when I have a minute to spare!

Looks like we all have some BEAUTIFUL dogs! Happy to be part of the family!

This dog is very nice looking.

For a pet you got a very nice specium.

Ok...

Since others are putting up pictures of their dogs...

Here's one of Macy's head shot. Look in the background there is a clippers there. I have to hide the dremil. She hates it! If you tease her and make the noise like Zing Zing...she takes off.

We call this "time for church" because I am religious about it and we always do it on Sunday. Coming from an ex horse person feet are very important to me.

This picture dates at July 19. I have a lot of pictures but not many good ones. I love Obies, they are very cute.

These are from back in the days...

I took pictures of these original pictures with my digital camera. The torn one is a result of a bad kid of mine attempting to tear them up.

The Western saddle is not mine. I use to have a younger kid show him in the younger division. So there was not time to change saddles between classes.

This horse was the National Champion Trail Horse for the United States. He won that title at the finals in Oklahoma against open horses. I trained him.

I sold him to someone I thought I could trust. He was supposed to have a good home.

When their kid lost interest in horses, they put him in a pasture with other horses.

I should have known better because they were always cheap. He was always supposed to be kept in a stall. I went out to the barn one day and he was out in a corral. They bought him knowing the agreement was stall only. He had to have this because he had side bone. He could not stay on hard surfaces long periods of time.

So the cheaper step yet was to put him in a pasture with several other horses. Pastures in Southern California are not pastures. They are just larger dry corrals. They should have never did this without proper introduction and supervision. He ended up having his hind leg kicked off and bled to death. Talk about regretting a sale...

Anyway, that was my first but not last experience with how people follow contracts later on after the sale. What can you do? Not a thing. Legally, this now is not your loss but theirs. I should have taken him back. But that too would have been lengthy and expensive.
