It’s still not completely light yet here, but I think we survived Hanna without loosing any trees… I’ll know more in the next few hours.
I thought this a was charming… I was watching the news accounts of flooding this morning, it was around 6:00 a.m., still dark, the newscaster is standing with a hand held mic in what looks to be about two feet of dark flood water. He looks down and says something like, “There goes a Water Moccasin.” Then he continues on with his news of the flooding. At the end of the piece the anchor asks if there is really a Water Moccasin swimming around. At this point the guy is looking around him in the water, he answers, “ Yes, I’m an old ranger and I know a water moccasin when I see one, so I’m getting out of here.”

 I would have soiled myself.
Hang in there, Elaine - are the horses all in lockdown?
We every now and then have a hurricane come up the bay. I consider myself lucky in that my thirty years in Maryland, I've only ever lost a couple trees or a wee bit of fencing.
Hope you come out of this with no damage!

We have a lot of ankle deep standing water in places... and branches down everywhere... I will need to get Kevin back with his bulldozer for certain things :( but that seem to be about the extent of it. The rain has let up... and it is warm... I think we may see the sun here shortly, not sure... the horses are all out... they would much rather be out checking things out and grazing than stuck inside... I was up to my ankles on my way to the barn this morning ... and let me tell you, I was keeping an eye out for anything that might be swimming by.:eek::eek: At times like these I find myself asking, "Now, who's idea was it to get into horses?"

Elaine, so good to hear you haven't sustained any major damage and worst is over. Keep that rifle handy just in case of the snakes!!!! Let us know how everything looks when you've had time to scout around the property.
Sheila
Glad to hear you and your place made it through the hurraine. I was wondering about you the otherday. And how close you dould be to getting hit by this. Now I can stop worrying.

We’re all good here… had some branches down, but I’ve collected them. The pond is up over the run off … so it is flooding the valley below… which is a “bad thing” in more ways then I can convey. Last night I spoke with Kevin, “the world’s best man with a bulldozer.” He will be over to fix things down by the barn... maybe he’ll still be here when E2 arrives for her visit, and she and I can get all liquored up, get Judy to do our hair so we look like twin blue-haired grannies, then go riding around Pinehurst on Kevin’s bulldozer with our shot gun looking for snakes on the Golf Course, Pinehurst #2. You'd think that would get us run out of town, but this is the south, we may just get away with it. :D

Call me.....I'll come down and we can all go for a spin! I'll leave Bob home so he can bail us out if need be!!!
E1 and E2...can you imagine that phone call..."Hi honey......can you come get us out of lock up?" EEEEKKK!!
Anyhow, glad to hear all is well down there after the storm. We lost a tree I have been wanting to cut down for years.....at least it fell away from the fencing. Tons of rain and the creek came up a bit, but nothing to be too concerned about.
Next up on the Hurricane Hit Parade...Ike, isn't it?

I can just see Bob bailing us out of jail… three exhausted, bedraggled blue haired women, clinging to a dead snake and an empty shot gun… and Andy with his mullet… and a wig no less. :D
I am hoping that we are done with storms for a while... I think Ike is heading the other direction... it may be a category 4 right now. My heart goes out to those who are in the direct path of these storms. :(

You now need to show everyone the "Mullet". If you do, I will get Bob to let me post his "Long Hair" pic that his mom took of him when he was 18 or so.
Oh hell....I 'll post it even if he doesn't let me!
Ok Elaine 1 and 2. ....I am not blue haired yet and neither are you! The shot gun and dead snake sounds like fun! I believe I am legal to carry my pistol in NC......
Bob is thrilled right now....he is anticapating issues as we speak!

Ok Elaine 1 and 2. ....I am not blue haired yet and neither are you!
I guess I forgot to include the part where we all stop by Judy's one chair salon and get our hair done. It's pretty much one size (one do) fits all... so we won't have a choice; you, me and E2... we'll all be blue.:o

I was fully involved in the 80's hair deal! It changed on a monthly basis and was all the way down past my shoulder blades. I did spiked and then I went very Bon Jovi!!
That is what happens when one dates musicians and body builders!!
Purple, red, whatever...it is like sculpture...change it all the time it grows back!!

I'm thinking Bob just might leave us in jail so he has some peace and quiet. We do torment him a lot remember. :D
Now Cheryl, we have to avoid the hairdresser at all costs. E1 can have purple hair all on her own thank you very much.

As I sat here reading E2's post and then up the chain in reverse I could not help asking the simple question "Where did this post go wrong?" Then I got to page one and saw the "liquored" up Bulldozer part and figured it all out. As for the peace and quiet there is time for that when I am dead. Would I bail you Gals out? Hum? Of course I would for two main reasons : 1) If I did not there is no place on earth I could hide and be safe from Cheryl 2nd and MOST important, being able to take pictures as you are released from the holding cell, blue hair, shotgun, and mussed hair would be fun. Posting them here...PRICELESS. I guess if there was a third reason it would be to hear the story. Nothing warms the heart like a good Dust Up, I got arrested story in my opinion.
Now to qualify I am not advocating anyone get arrested, nor am I advocating for a Dust Up, however as a good friend of mine once said right before we DID NOT get arrested "Sally, it has been awhile since we were in a good Dust Up, and you know a GOOD DUST UP really relieves stress. Come on man you have become way too civilized!!" Then my lovely wife who will remain nameless, agreed. Me being the PEACE loving type that I am could not have disagreed more:D Nor am I admitting to having heard those types of stories or having been the subject of one of those stories, I just heard they were heart warming.

ROFL about trying to hide from Cheryl.
Now that would be plain old mean to take pictures of us leaving the cell.
However, as you know, if the roles were reversed it would be the first thing I would do. :D
