View Full Version : John Getter's Email re Stella and Photos of Stella with Dr. Danoff

Here is an email from John Getter and my response below. I will post more tomorrow. This Pig John claims that "Stacy was a witness." I hope to god he does not mean our Tracy, who has assured me that she knows nothing and wishes to stay out of this. I believe Tracy.
I could go through John's email line by line… but it sickens me. John is trying to justify stealing Stella… I do not buy even one scintilla of his justification, not one. I am sickened at the lengths these lunatics will go to to defend the act of stealing Stella. How are John, Alla and the thieves who stole Stella different then the worst Animal Rights lunatics... full of delusional passion that gets misdirected to attacks on good people (in the form of breed specific legislation, breed bans and even stealing a dog) and trying to justify their illegal act, rather than having the decency and courage to make things right, which in this instance would be to bring Stella home to Dr. Danoff now, immediately.

Howdy,
I saw the recent exchange you had regarding Danoff, Stella, etc. While I certainly respect the right of each person to their opinion, I find your statements troubling and surprising.
I know memories fade, and this has gone on way too long. But;
You seem to have forgotten the underfed dog named Stella.
You seem to have forgotten the uncared-for dog named Stella.
You seem to have forgotten the unkept promises of physical therapy and special care for Stella.
You seem to have forgotten the bizarre spectacle of a VETERINARIAN claiming she had no idea that a skin and bones dog was underfed, what do about it or how to handle basic simple behavior issues
You seem to have forgotten the home visit done by a DARE volunteer who stated she would NOT allow her dogs to be cared for as Stella was by Danoff.
You seem to have forgotten the vote by the DARE BOD to remove Stella from Danoff for the reasons above.
You seem to have forgotten the request by DARE to Alla that she either foster or adopt Stella after that removal for cause.
You seem to have forgotten the threats, coercion and mean-spiritedness heaped on many by both Danoff and DARE.
You seem to have forgotten that DARE was suspended from recognized rescue FOR CAUSE as voted by an entire nationally recognized rescue committee.
Elaine, you are operating on hearsay. Stacy, you were a witness. I am befuddled. Because, most of all you seem to have forgotten any sense of fairness, proportionality, decency, care for a dog-in-need, fair play and the heinous nature of the attacks heaped on a recognized heroine by recognized abusive and irresponsible people doing evil.
Sorry if I seem a bit harsh. But, I tend to respond that way to people who find a way to rationalize abuse of dogs, people or both. I fear that’s what you are doing and hope you will reconsider. You are supporting the wrong side in a simple case of right and wrong.
Jg
PS: Of course, I will state what should be obvious. This is my opinion. I need to state that as Dr. Danoff likes to hire attorneys that threaten expensive and abusive lawsuits against those who speak this way. She is NOT the kind, gentle veggie-loving sweetheart she would have you believe.

Mr. Getter,
It's late and I am tired.. I am going to post your email and this response on DSNN... and deal with you tomorrow. For now, I will try to be civil. You are about as vile and offensive a pig as I can imagine. You are trying to defend a delusional lunatic who stole a dog… that is an illegal and immoral act. May you and people like you rot in hell. That's as far as I can go for now. Tomorrow, I will not be so nice.

Mr. Getter had more to say to me, in another email last night… my impression is that he wants to insert himself in this issue as though it were some adolescent game, and trading insults back and forth was appropriate. I probably wasn’t clear enough last night, but I find Mr. Getter and people like him utterly reprehensible. I did not respond further to Getter because I believe it is a waste of time to engage these kinds of people in dialogue. He and I have no common ground between us. Getter and his kind of people do not come from a place of intelligence and reason; they seem to swirl in a toilet bowl of “I [Getter] am right, and my assessment that I am right is justification for whatever I do. And there are no bounds to what I will do.”
I find Mr. Getter and fanatics like him very very destructive forces in the world. They leave a filthy mess for the rest of us to clean up. Their conduct appears to be governed by several fundamental flaws, one of which is their delusion that they have good judgment. Their arrogant sanctimonious ignorance grounds their feeling that “the ends justify the means.” Sort of like the 9/11 terrorists who bombed our World Trade Centers. No matter how brutal, no matter how ugly and destructive their conduct, no matter the consequences, these fanatics have no doubt what-so-ever that they are right, and they recognize no limits, certainly not the limits of law in a civilized society.
Seems to me that the part of their brains that should contain neurotransmitters for wisdom, judgment and reason are non existent, and the void is filled with “I am right, and there are no limits to what I can do, because in my delusion, I am right.” I am very tired of the chaos, pain and ugliness these kinds of people create in the world.
Mr. Getter offers up a series of rationalizations and weak justifications for why Stella was taken, collectively and individually they are all baloney. If any of his rather vague inferences had merit, there were appropriate channels to go through to resolve the issues. Stealing Stella was NEVER the appropriate course of action.
Dr. Danoff is a trained, licensed practicing veterinarian. She is familiar with Stella’s type of leg deformity and she was specifically familiar with Stella. Stella had a rather stressful life history before coming to Dr. Danoff, making her a bit of a challenge in all of the ways that relate to being a companion animal. Dr. Danoff was committed to working through Stella’s issues. Dr. Danoff was dealing with whatever eating habits and eating issues Stella had. Kim was also dealing with Stella’s behavioral issues. It was taking time, and anyone familiar with dogs, anyone who has actually owned dogs over a periods of time, knows that these things take time. These kind of problems take consistency and devotion over an extended period of time, which is what Dr. Danoff was providing.
But why are we even having to defend Dr. Danoff, she is not the accused criminal. Dr. Danoff is not the defendant in a criminal prosecution. Dr. Danoff did absolutely nothing wrong. Danoff loved Stella and devoted herself to Stella. In contrast, some delusional group of fanatics stole Stella, and are hiding Stella from the law.
I can see where John Getter, in his ongoing delusional fanaticism, just does not get it. Stella needs to be returned to Dr. Danoff immediately. And though I had once had some tiny measure of sympathy for poor old Alla, that is dissipating really fast here. I am beginning to believe that Alla, John Getter and any of the other fanatics involved in planning, endorsing, encouraging and/or supporting this criminal act, either at the time or after-the-fact, knew that stealing Stella was wrong. They may not ever be able to understand that it was morally wrong, but I believe that they knew it was illegal under the law. I believe that they were advised so early on, by an attorney who essentially told them to stop. I believe that they knew what they were doing was illegal… and they did it any way.
What they did was not an impulsive act. Rather, I think it was an intentional, willful, informed choice to go around the proper channels, and to break the law. As a result, a sweet fragile Doberman has suffered, and a devoted, loving care giver has suffered personal loss and character assassination. All the while these smug creatures like Getter just keep rolling along. I think the people involved with the theft of Stella and in hiding Stella after the theft should all be held accountable in a court of law for their conduct. And Stella should be returned immediately.

got yet another email for John Getter... to say that he doesn't get it is a gross understatement.
At one point I thought it would be nice to let poor old Alla return Stella and creep back into obscurity. But that sends the wrong message to the next delusional rescue worker who thinks they should steal a dog because, in their questionable judgment, stealing the dog is necessary. The message we need to take away from this is “Stealing dogs is wrong, it is illegal, it is a CRIMINAL act, and the judgment of people who supported the theft of Stella is flawed."
We know the qualifications of Dr. Danoff, we know that she is an educated licensed medical professional. We know that she is held to a professional standard, that her conduct is open and able to be reviewed… and we know that she is a loving compassionate person who devoted herself to the special needs of Stella.
So, what are the qualifications of the people who stole Stella? What are their qualifications to judge Dr Danoff so harshly and condemn her? By what standard of excellence was Dr Danoff found lacking? Are these rogue rescue volunteers educated, licensed or trained in any manner what-so-ever that a civilized society recognizes or values? Judging by their criminal conduct, I would guess that the answer is “no.” It seems they could not even grasp that breaking the law is wrong.

I was sitting here thinking about Alla and all the people who have participated in this crime. There is absolutely no question what-so-ever that Dr. Danoff loved Stella and that Stella loved Dr. Danoff. In the 10 months they were together they had bonded strongly and Stella’s life had been transformed. I can’t not get away from the photo of Kim hugging Stella… and the love the two of them shared. I can easily connect to how I would feel if someone stole one of our dogs. I think we can all connect to how we’d feel.
Dr. Kim Danoff and Stella

I am amazed at the restraint and civility Dr. Danoff has shown here, given her love for Stella and given what she has endured because of Alla and later, because of the malicious gossip spread by people like Cheri McNealy on CyberDobes. Heck, last night I found it impossible to be civil to that by-product-of-a-digestive-tract John Getter, and I did not know Stella.
Imagine if you can what would happen if Alla had stolen L.E. from Bob and Cheryl. I was thinking about how Bob react. I can tell you there would not be some obscure chain of possession and people hiding Decca behind a game of hid the pea.
Most people I know would probably drag everyone’s sorry pathetic asses together and have an eye-ball-to-eye-ball meeting of the minds. “Where is my dog? I’ll count to three… " then body parts would start flying.
Were I the Virginia prosecutor, I would drag everyone involved into my office and explain that they will be prosecuted… that they will have a criminal record if they do not tell the truth, the whole truth, now… this minute and end this foolishness today!!! And I would prosecute each and a every person who had any criminal involvement of any kind in this theft. If that means a criminal record, so be it!
Anyone who has any information regarding Stella's disappearance should contact police investigator Eric Heflin at 540-665-6383. If you helped to transport her or if you were asked to help transport her or if you have information at all about her, I encourage you to contact the police and tell them what you know.

I am going to refrain from responding. I am sure everyone can only imagine what might be going through my mind...
But I will say this...what type of relationship do these photos depict to you?!
Need I say more.
Elaine, I am going to email you the link to the photo album I sent to the DPCA, for you to review. Not sure how to post that here...sorry.
But here are a few samples...

Folks, I too had trouble posting these photos for Dr. Danoff... not because of any technical challenge that posting them presented... but because I could not see the key board through my tears. I would like the people who stole Stella from Dr. Danoff to return her, immediately... and god help them if she is not in good condition.
Again, anyone who has any information regarding Stella's disappearance should contact police investigator Eric Heflin at 540-665-6383. If you helped to transport her or if you were asked to help transport her or if you have information at all about her, I encourage you to contact the police and tell them what you know.

The big "claim to fame" here seems to be that Stella was skinny. OK, so there are lots of reasons dogs can be skinny -- and it does not always mean a dog is unloved or abused. Some dogs are not good eaters -- sometimes owners feed just dry food and the dogs just don't gain the weight -- the owners just don't realize that maybe that particular dog (a breed they are unfamiliar with) may need more -- like something else to make the food more palatible, like meat added or something like that. Most of the agility dogs in my practice are skinny -- yep, that's right -- they look skinny to me -- and that's the way the owners like them -- I tell them the dogs look skinny and they laugh at me -- should we steal all the agility dogs in the country and take them underground because they are underfed. A dog with a disability like Stella -- should really not be fat -- too much weight on her front assembly is not what is best for this dog. Moreover, some dogs are just skinny, maybe because they metabolize food different than others, and it may take some "figuring out" to see what works. I highly doubt the bitch was intentionally underfed -- give me a break -- one of the easiest things in the world to do is feed a dog -- nobody intentionally would underfeed a dog. Sometimes people are unfamiliar with our breed (Dobermans) and they don't know the right weight, and until somebody points it out, they don't notice the dog is skinny. I have clients that insist on feeding dobermans natural diets, and I think the ones with preservatives seem to maintain weight better on dobes (LOL) -- JMO. You know how many skinny dogs I see with handlers ??? Lots of them -- I really have to doubt that Stella was skinny because Kim intentionally underfed her.
OK, so what else was wrong??? She complained about the dog to some "friends." She complained about some behavioral issues. This whole situation is ridiculous. Alla needs to give the dog back to Kim and just find something else to do with her time. And she really doesn't have to cry about it -- because Kim will give Stella a wonderful home. It is so way out of control, and from the anger that I see in the posts like the one by JG, no wonder -- these people aren't even rational any more.

Stella's weight has been in question....Has anyone here ever had a dog lose weight? I know our Joy lost a good deal of weight a few months back. It is hard to notice when you look at the dog every day. It is not neglect.
Sometimes weight loss can be rapid and not noticed until one day you step back and actually look at the dog. Hell my wife has lost 6 pounds in the last few weeks....I didn't notice it.
Joy's weight is important to us and not easily controlled. We want to keep her light but not too light. Her old bones and joints can't tolerate the added fat. It definitely got away from us within days. I immediately doubled her food and called the vet......Had there been photos of her at that time one could say she looked like hell. Was it neglect? I invite anyone to inspect my dogs at any time if they think so.
Animal neglect and abuse are some pretty hefty words to throw around. All I know is that if they are hurled my way again there had better be some evidence backing them up.

I too had a special needs dobe, L.E. She had a foreleg that she was unable to use after 6 surgies and pounds of stainless steel put in place to hold that leg together, when her former owners ignored a hit by car fracture to that leg.
I kept L.E. fairly lean. It was the best thing for her. She was a tripod, only using that leg to balance or rest occasionally on. Any additional weight would cause stress to her right limb that supported her wieght up front and her rear legs which see used as a brace all the time. My fear was I would loose her to stress fractures and her front breakingdown completely.
Dr Ann Caufield saw L.E. on a regular basis, as did Dr Sophia Koster.
Both vets supported keeping L.E. on the thin side. It made sense to do so.
L.E. also had some very serious behavioral issues that took years to work through...and I know I was frustrated as was Bob on occasions. L.E. was a special girl that came with issues, we knew that and handled it. I am sure the way Dr. Danoff was.
So, I am sure that if these folks that stole Stella would have seen L.E., they might have stolen her also. Not having any knowledge of why one would keep a dog like that on the lean side. That by packing more weight onto her frame would perhaps be a death sentance to her. A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing.
L.E. came to us at 5 yrs old and lived to be nearly 11 yrs old. I am sure if I had kept her at the weight she came at (90+lbs) she would have been dead a lot sooner and it wouldn't have been from old age and the Big C......it would have been because she fell apart in her front and couldn't stand up any longer.
I am sure others with special needs orthropedic dogs will tell the same story...thin is better for them.
The photos were wonderful and sad all at the same time. Thanks for posting them.
Cheryl
(We miss you Mel-Mel.)
While I do not usually respond to posts from Mr Getter, I think that it's important to address some of the lies and inaccuracies that Mr Getter has repeated in his email to Elaine Greenwood and Tracy Daugherty.
I would like to note that every response that I am providing here is included in the documentation that was prepared by the DAR&E board of directors and submitted to the DPCA in response to Alla McGeary's complaint aginst DAR&E. The DAR&E board directors involved are prepared to testify in a court of law regarding the veracity of these statements. I cannot engage in a "question and answer" on these items as this situation is currently in criminal court and may very well end up in civil court. However, I am free to repeat responses from the original documentation. I have placed Mr Getter's comments in quotes, the response follows.
Mr Getter states: "You seem to have forgotten the unkept promises of physical therapy and special care for Stella."
This statement is not accurate. Stella was taken to a trainer, a behaviorist, and an orthotist. I have letters of documentation from each professional, including a letter from a fourth individual, an orthopedic surgeon, with whom Dr Danoff was working to provide a surgical solution to Stella's deformity. It is absolutely false to state that Stella was not provided with PT or special care as I have written evidence and interviews with those who provided the care.
"You seem to have forgotten the bizarre spectacle of a VETERINARIAN claiming she had no idea that a skin and bones dog was underfed, what do about it or how to handle basic simple behavior issues"
This statement is not accurate. Stella was thin (4 on the chart) but NOT "skin and bones". Stella was perhaps 4-5 pounds underweight but well within acceptable weight parameters. Stella was kept thin to reduce stress on her deformed leg. I realize that many felt she was too thin because I believe we've grown accustomed and accepting of heavy dogs. After speaking with Dr Danoff about the concern , we reached an agreement that was documented in her adoption contract. I must strongly reinforce the fact that Stella was NOT being starved or purposely underfed. I should also point out that I have a signed letter from a veterinarian who examined Stella in February 2007. This letter was submitted to the DPCA and it clearly states that Stella was "bright, alert and in good flesh" and that her coat was in "good condition."
Regarding the "simple behavior issues", as Dr Danoff has stated here and I confirmed by speaking to the behaviorist with whom she was working, the behavior issues had for the most part been resolved as a result of the work that Dr Danoff had done with her over the year or so that Stella lived with her. Was Stella perfect behaviorally? No. But what dog is?
"You seem to have forgotten the home visit done by a DARE volunteer who stated she would NOT allow her dogs to be cared for as Stella was by Danoff."
The home visit report was ambiguous and in some cases contradictory. In conclusion, however, the home visitor reported that she would approve adoption for Dr Danoff, provided three key points relating to training and diet were addressed. Those points were added to Dr Danoff's adoption contract to satisfy the letter of the report. It must also be noted that the written contents of that report are full of ambiguities and contradictions. While the home visitor's report was taken into consideration, the DAR&E board also spoke to the trainer and the behaviorist who worked with Dr Danoff. We found the information provided by these professionals to be far more compelling than the uncertain comments made by the home visitor.
"You seem to have forgotten the vote by the DARE BOD to remove Stella from Danoff for the reasons above."
This statement is absolutely and categorically false. The DAR&E board of directors took NO VOTE to remove Stella from Dr Danoff. The DAR&E board was led to believe that Dr Danoff no longer wished to foster Stella. We were notified by one board member that she would transport Stella to her new foster parent, Alla McGeary. At no time did the DAR&E board vote to remove Stella "for cause" as Mr Getter states.
"You seem to have forgotten the request by DARE to Alla that she either foster or adopt Stella after that removal for cause."
Ms McGeary was requested to foster Stella as a volunteer for DAR&E. And THAT IS ALL. There was no board request that Alla adopt Stella. And again, I must point out that there was no "removal for cause". This is another falsehood.
"You seem to have forgotten the threats, coercion and mean-spiritedness heaped on many by both Danoff and DARE.”
It is extremely unfortunate that you continue to view Dr Danoff and DAR&E's requests to return Stella to us and our quest for justice through legal means as "threats, coercion and mean-spiritedness." You and your associates have trampled the civil and property rights of others and you become incensed when you are asked to cease those behaviors. I am sure that you will consider my comments here to be "mean-spirited". You have launched these attacks and you express outrage when the person you're attacking defends themselves.
"You seem to have forgotten that DARE was suspended from recognized rescue FOR CAUSE as voted by an entire nationally recognized rescue committee.”
It is my opinion that the DPCA Rescue Committee and the DPCA Board behaved in a less than responsible fashion in this matter. Given the fact that McGeary had felony charges pressed against her at the time she lodged her complaint against DAR&E, the very entity that had filed the charges, the committee should have used good judgment and pended the complaint. The moment that I informed Dr Burke that this issue was in court, it should have been pended.
Why did the DPCA rush to judge DAR&E in this instance? Anyone who knows anything about the politics of the DPCA recognizes that the DPCA complaint process became a political hatchet job the moment that you, Mr Getter, took the issue to Cyberdobes and Cheri McNealy. It is common knowledge that Cheri McNealy has despised me personally and DAR&E as an organization for a decade - and I have the email evidence that very clearly establishes an ongoing pattern of behavior on McNealy's part.
"Elaine, you are operating on hearsay. Stacy, you were a witness. I am befuddled. "
Stacy (or Tracy?), if you were a witness to what happened to Stella or if you have any knowledge regarding Stella's whereabouts at any time over the last year and a half, you should contact the police and tell them what you know. This has gone beyond the realm of dog show politics. It is a criminal matter and will most likely become a civil matter. I encourage ANYONE who knows anything about this matter to call ERIC HEFLIN, the police investigator for Frederick County Virginia, at 540-665-6383 and tell him EVERYTHING.
And lastly, Mr Getter's latest personal attack on Dr Danoff:
"PS: Of course, I will state what should be obvious. This is my opinion. I need to state that as Dr. Danoff likes to hire attorneys that threaten expensive and abusive lawsuits against those who speak this way. She is NOT the kind, gentle veggie-loving sweetheart she would have you believe. "
I will state the obvious as well. You have attacked this woman's character and threatened her livelihood with a vicious tissue of lies and innuendo. Dr Danoff, through her attorney, has asked you to STOP your ongoing defamation attacks against her. And quite frankly, Mr Getter, while Dr Danoff is in fact a "gentle, veggie-loving sweetheart", she is also a MOTHER who is fighting like hell to get her baby back. What part of that don't you understand? Lawsuits are indeed expensive but in this case, I beg to differ with your use of the term "abusive". You have put Dr Danoff (and me) on the defensive. Don't be surprised when we vigorously defend ourselves and our rights.
As Elaine has stated repeatedly, even if Mr Getter's assertions were true (which they absolutely are not,) there is no justification to simply steal a dog. None whatsoever. If anyone reading this has any knowledge of where Stella is today or how she was transported to wherever she is, please call Police Investigator Eric Heflin at 540-665-6383 and tell him what you know.
Please help bring Stella home.
Athy

Elaine and All
I wanted to post regarding several of John's claims regarding Stella, Alla and Kim Danoff and several of the inaccuracies posted on many of the "help the Alla" webs's.
First off, Stella was never a stray. As owner intake coordinator for DAR&E I was contacted by Stella's original owner before she took Stella back to the shelter where she originally adopted her. Altho a very minute detail, this was just the first of many inaccuracies. Her owner was moving and unable to take Stella with her. She was never a stray.
Before DAR&E could take Stella, her owner left a message on my cell phone stating she took her back to shelter and if we wanted her, here was the address of the shelter..........go get her.
Dr Danoff was then contacted by her friend Colleen Taylor who was shelter intake coordinator and knew Kim had a dog with same disability. Colleen knew Kim as she had spoken to our group (DAR&E) in an educational forum.
John also mentions the DAR&E board voted to have Stella removed from Kim's home which is absolutely a lie. I have served on DAR&E board of directors since 2002 and can assure everyone this is a figment of his imagination.
John has had issues with the Board of Directors as he tried to run and was unsuccessful in his attempts to get elected. So no, John would not know this to be true. If in fact we had voted to remove Stella from Dr Danoff's home, we would have never had her sign an adoption contract regarding Stella.
John's issues with DAR&E board of directors and DAR&E in general stems from an issue several years before when he suggested we include a paypal button next to a picture/memorial of a beloved volunteer who had passed away. John actually contacted the deceased's husband regarding doing this. The general membership and board thought this extremely distasteful.
Now, John mentions coercion, mean spiritedness and attacks from DAR&E board and Dr Danoff in his posts as well. I cannot imagine any one of us sitting back and not trying to do all we can do if one of our "babies" were stolen from us. Theft is illegal so not so sure why John, Alla and their supporters think this is ok.?
What the likes of these folks have done to Dr Danoff, Athy Conigliaro and DAR&E as a whole organization defines mean spiritedness, coercion and attacking.
While John would have everyone believe we (DAR&E) are horrible people, we just celebrated 10 years of rescue and have taken in over 1200 unwanted, abused, neglected dobermans.
Stella needs to be returned to Dr Danoff where she belongs and is most loved.

All
Regarding my reply about Stella NOT being a stray......I want to clarify.
As the intake owner coordinator, I was contacted by the owner of Stella who had adopted Stella from the shelter and then wanted to give her up.
Previous to Stella being adopted by that owner, she WAS a stray.
Just wanted to clarify.

To be honest I never really paid much attention to this deal that seems to have been going on since last year. Is that right? I remember reading posts about it on cd, by because I didn't know anyone involved or what was really going on I just kinda skimmed over it. But after reading Dr. Kim's heartfelt posts and seeing pictures of her with
Stella, I just can't not say something!!!
Why did the person ( I believe someone named Alla?) take Stella out of Dr. Danoffs home? There obviously was no reason to take her for lack of proper facilities and a comfortable safe environment for her. And if they are so interested in "rescueing" them from unhappy, unhealthy situations, why did they pick this situation out? Afterall, there has got to be other dogs out there in horrible situations, and they don't do anything. For example the Wisc puppy mill, did they do anything about that? I think not!!! If the rescue group that took her, had the dogs best interest at heart they would close the file on this and count it as a successful adoption, and move on to the dogs that really need their help. Dr. Kim obviously was providing Stella with a wonderful home, and love, which is WHAT ALL RESCUE ORG STRIVE TO FIND FOR ALL THE DOGS THEY GET INTO THEIR FACILITIES....isn't it????????
And as far as her leg, geez, Dr. Kim is a vet, so how appropriate or legally was it of a non-vet person to diagnose Stella's leg in need of amputation? This is really starting to get like an "emotional soap oprah!!" (spelling?) I couldn't hold back my tears for Stella, as it sounds like she had the world every dog dreams of having, and it was taken away from her!!........to who knows where or what kind of life. , here they come along and do this heartbreaken thing to her. It really tweeks at my sense of justice, which is so STRONG I get so mad I could do something I shouldn't!!!!!. Why in the name of whatever is just in this world, do the authorities take so frickin long to get to the bottom of something like this.?? This is a living creature of God, that has a limited time on this earth, just like the rest of us, and each day that passes, who knows what her precious life is experiencing???!! Whoever has her and if they are giving her as good a life as Dr. Kim, did, why don't they post pictures from somewhere neutral just to show she is safe and happy?. Geez if a scumbag like Osama Bin Laden can do it in the middle of the desert, and the US Government can't find him or where the tapes were taken, shows it can be done!! It sounds to me like the human factor "control freak" is showing it's ugly head here. Afterall egotism, can be pretty powerful, and dig a hole deeper, and deeper, than coming forward with what is the truth!
Maybe I am speaking out of turn (and I am sure someone will think that and open their big mouth!!..) and of something I know very little about, but I do know this, if Dr. Kim didn't give a hoot what happened to this little dog, why would she be still going through this hell, to at least know what happened to this precious girl, because she really cares....... just like the REAL MOTHER in the Bible that was willing to let the kidnapper, "not real" mother have her baby to keep Solomon from cutting the baby in half to give each mother claiming to be the real mother half of the baby, thus killing it!!...And if you notice, the kidnapper "not real mother", didn't say a word!!!
Angry is putting it mildly for my feelings on this!!

My investigation indicates that a Ms. Smith, a director of DARE, was the person who removed Stella from Dr. Danoff's home. Ms. Smith had been directed to do so by the DARE BOD because Ms. Smith and/or Ms. Taylor told the DARE BOD that Dr. Danoff no longer wanter to foster Stella.
In order to induce Dr. Danoff to allow Stella to leave with her, Ms. Smith lied to Dr. Danoff and stated it was DARE standard policy that when a foster home wanted to adopt a dog, it would be removed from the foster home while the application for adoption was evaluated. This was completely untrue. The DARE BOD (with the exception of this evil Ms. Smith) had no inkling that Dr. Danoff wanted to adopt Stella. Dr. Danoff had trusted Ms. Smith and Ms. Taylor, people who she had considered to be friends, and to whom she had communicated her desire to adopt Stella.
Smith and Taylor were acting with a hidden agenda, having decided they knew better than anyone what should happen to Stella (a common occurrence with Ms. Taylor), and had induced McGeary to foster Stella with promises that she could adopt the dog. Smith and Taylor had failed to inform the DARE BOD that Dr. Danoff wanted to adopt Stella, keeping this little secret to themselves as they betrayed Dr. Danoff and Stella.
A few days after Stella had been removed from her home, Dr. Danoff contacted the DARE BOD directly and inquired about the status of her application to adopt Stella. This was the first time the DARE BOD were told Dr. Danoff wanted Stella.
Smith and Taylor have a lot to answer for, as do the people who conspired with McGeary to hide Stella.
Now that the emails from McGeary's computers have been ruled to be admissible evidence at McGeary's trial, maybe there will be additional indictments of the conspirators. Should one of these conspirators have aspirations to obtain a professional license, like, for example, a Veterinarian license, they would be well advised to do everything in their power to make this right. It is funny how the licensing boards consider felons to be undesireable members of their profession. The clock is ticking. It is already too late for McGeary, the prosecutor will put her behind bars. But perhaps, sauve qui peut!
And lest anyone think living outside Virginia will shield them from the law, extradition is done all the time in this land. If you were a party to the conspiracy to steal and conceal Stella, and you emailed McGeary about it, the police know who you are. You should hire a lawyer, explain what you have done, and see if she can help you avoid prosecution by testifying for the state. You do not want to be the last conspirator to come forward for by then, the prosecutor will already have all the testimony he needs.
Maybe you were thinking of discussing this with your fellow conspirators, like Mr. Getter perhaps. Do you think he really knows what he is talking about? Remember, this is the same genius that assured McGeary she would never be prosecuted.
The prosecutor has already told the court that he intends to ask that McGeary be sentenced to prison for stealing Stella. Do you really want to be in the next cell?

I sent this to Alla via email. I have confirmed receipt that she read it. Grab Kleenex.

Dear Alla,
Over the past 12 months a lot has happened regarding this Stella issue. I think we would all like to put this behind us and move on with happier times. It has been a really tough journey and a tough year over all (not only for me, but you too I have heard). This has not been easy for me. I have had a few other deaths in my animal family this year and 2 others likely in the very near future. One of my geriatric cats passed away from a medication reaction given to him by a referral practice. One of my birds died of atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) going to the blood vessels to his heart. And my dog Charles has lymphoma. And another one of my geriatric cats is on his last legs (diabetic, thyroid disease, chronic sinusitis with a possible nasal tumor, and kidney issues).
I am writing today to ask you to please return Stella. I miss Stella more than anything. I took her in, promised her a forever home, and spoiled her beyond belief. She went everywhere with me. She has quite the elaborate wardrobe; ate the best foods on the market, etc. I am sure you heard all of this before, so I won’t bore you with those details.
Alla, you have shared your home with many animals over the years, and I know you have felt the pain of losing a pet. It is a pain that leaves a hole in your heart forever-something that never truly heals. But Alla…I am begging you to please, please return my baby to me. I think about her every day; I miss her every day; I have a heavy feeling in my heart every day. I wonder where she is, how she is feeling, and what she is doing at each moment of the day. And I wish that I was there to receive her kisses, have her lay on my body and spoon, and I miss just loving her in return.
I sought out Stella for so many reasons. Initially because of her deformity. She was my 3rd dog with a limb deformity. As a secondary thing, I wanted another dog in my home because my dog, Charles, was becoming a senior and I knew the time would come that he would pass and I would need a special dog to help me get through the mourning process. Well, ironically, it was in April of 2007 that Charles was diagnosed with thymic lymphoma. Since then he has been seeing an oncologist and receiving chemo. We have had some wonderful months and have made some of the best memories of my life. We have gone camping, canoeing, kayaking, tubing, toured vineyards, had doggie play dates, went to several dog friendly bed and breakfasts, walked on dog friendly beaches in Delaware and Annapolis, celebrated his 9th birthday, and a whole lot more. I feel so blessed to have had this additional time with him. But unfortunately, Charles has been out of remission for about 2 months now, but now, more than ever, it is most apparent. You don’t even need to lay a hand on him to see his lymph nodes. I was told at my last oncology appointment that I may need to start preparing myself for his passing. This dog is my soul mate and we are attached at the hip. A special love that I cannot even begin to explain, but can only be understood by someone that has experienced it themselves. And I am coming close to the time that he is going to leave this earth. I cannot even fathom life without him. I am sure I will survive. We always do. But the grieving…wow, it is not going to be easy. Because I have never shared so much of my life with anyone before-he is such an integral part of my work, my social life, my home, and my family. When I got Stella, it was my goal to have her integrated into all of these things as well.
Stella is probably the one being that could help me get through the loss of Charles. Her constant need for love and kisses and to be cuddled would be very healing as I struggle with the grieving process. She would not be a replacement, but an ear to cry to, talk to, and a loving being to hug and snuggle with during the times when I will likely feel so alone. As you know Stella is not just “a dog”. She is truly special. Not just because of her deformity, but because of her demeanor. You won’t find one sweeter than Stella. Always aiming to please.
From one animal lover to another, I am begging you to return Stella to me. I really need her now. I would love for Charles to be able to see her again before he passes and for him to know that I have someone to help me through his loss.
I miss my Stella Bella Baby Girl. Please Alla. Please send her home to her family. This whole process has added so much stress to both of our lives. I think we all want to see that end and go on with our lives. Life should be about bringing happiness to others. Learning from mistakes and moving on. We can put this all past us.
Honestly Alla, I think if you only just met me, you would like me. I wouldn’t hurt any one or any thing. All I do 24/7 is rescue animals and save lives in my practice. This is not just a profession for me. It is my life. It is my passion. In fact, I don’t have much of a life outside of animals as a result. I live and die for animals.
Please let’s have this end without having a trial. Please return Stella. And please let Charles see his sister again. This would bring me great happiness. And what a perfect way for Charles’ perfect life to end.
If you ever want to talk, please just drop me an email or give me a call. I would be more than happy to talk to you. Any time of day or night. Cell 571-212-5024 Work 703-938-2563.
Thanks for listening Alla.
Take care,
Kim Danoff

As we all now know, Alla was not swayed by Kim's plea for Stella's return. Sadly, Charles died without seeing Stella again.

Anyone who has any information regarding Stella's disappearance should contact police investigator Eric Heflin at 540-665-6383. If you helped to transport her or if you were asked to help transport her or if you have information at all about her, I encourage you to contact the police and tell them what you know.
Some one, somewhere knows something, either where Stella is, or who has her. It would only take a call to Eric Heflin.
Please, let's bring Stella home today.
I just want to make sure that everyone is clear on one thing. The "rescue group" (DAR&E), through a board directors' vote, did agree that Kim was providing Stella with a wonderful home. DAR&E granted Dr Danoff's request to adopt Stella. In fact, this particular decision is the reason behind why the DPCA Rescue Committee and the DPCA Board voted to sanction DAR&E - the DPCA believed that DAR&E made the wrong decisions around Stella and Kim and we were sanctioned for two years (beginning in March 2007) for determining that Kim Danoff was a good adoptive home for Stella.
Based on the photographs and the letters you have seen, if you agree that Danoff would provide Stella a good home, then you are at odds with the DPCA Rescue Committee and the DPCA Board. They voted that this theft was A-OK and that DAR&E should be sanctioned for two years because the DAR&E board voted that Danoff should be allowed to adopt Stella.
DAR&E would love to be able to "close the books" on this adoption. Nothing would make me happier than to be able to bring Stella home to Kim Danoff. But I am not the person who can make that happen. Stella was stolen from DAR&E. We don't know where she is. We are very hopeful that by publicizing this situation, someone who knows something will come forward and make this wrong right again.
If you have information about Stella and/or her whereabouts, please call police investigator Eric Heflin at 540-665-6383 and tell him what you know.
Thank you.
Athy
