We hear the Top Twenty Conformation judges are Jim Briley, Judith Goodin and noted Boxer handler Mike Sheppard. Sheppard is an interesting choice.

Seems that Moose’s littermate have done well. Congrats to John and Sally for winning Best Puppy, I think they won it last year too with Garbo…
Overall, Trotyl has had a good National in terms of his progeny winning and placing in classes, though we were a bit surprised that Brian's litter and the Paris -Trotyl litter weren't blowing people's door's off. Might be thier age and a developmental growth stage.
Ceely's puppy bitch was Best in Sweeps I think... she was from a litter that Cathy posted about.
In addition to Congrats to WD, wanted to congratulate Janice McGeer and Carmen Pitts for breeding WB, the fawn Eddie – Ada daughter (littermate to Asia, whom Carmen kept). Janice called after the win, she said Carissa cried when she won.
Interesting choice for Breed (Reigny) and BOS ( Road Warrior). Can’t say I immediately connect to the similarities of those two phenotypes.

you see this is what is so intriguing with judging, you never know what the judge is looking, for...some like type overall and dont care about soundness per say, other judges will put up dogs who are lacking in a type but are very sound...and as we all know some judges will go for faces and we know the feeling when you are in the ring and you have the impression to be invisible..
For having used Lex in our lines we always said "to much of a good thing is just to much" and now we have a boy heavily Lex on one side and he is not extreme and judges seems to like him a lot tough we were hoping he would keep the angles he had as a pup !!!!!......this is why we NEVER can take anything for granted as you never know what the other person has in its mind...
On the other end it doesnt prevent some of us for liking differents type depending on what is needed in a breeding plan...hope i am saying this right not sure if i am clear enough in my chain of thoughts...basically i rarely ask my self why a judge does this or that as i can only take a wild guess at it :o;)

I will agree that we have no idea what agenda is running through a judge's mind. I never attempt to second guess what a judge is up to in the ring.... there are simply too many variables that may have nothing what-so-ever to do with the dogs in competition. All we can go by is who they point to in any given competition. My thought was that you can not give Reigny the Breed and Road Warrior BOS to her in a competition that includes so many nice male champions. In my view, in a competition like the national, where a judge has large numbers of entries to choose from, Breed and BOS should compliment each other, almost like a breeding pair, i.e. the Breed and BOS should be dogs of similar phenotype. (In smaller entries the judge does not often have the luxury of choosing a similar phenotype, and BOS can be little more than “an entry ” of the opposite sex).
I have seen Reigny and Road Warrior many times. In fact, I just saw Road Warrior a few weeks ago, he was entered at our M.C.K.C. September show. Reigny is a beautifully angulated bitch, Road Warrior is stick straight, especially in front, with no return of the upper arm. Giving him BOS to Reigny, in company that included so many top males that are more similar in phenotype to Reigny, strikes me as odd. When we (as exhibitors) choose to spend thousands to attend a National, we want to see good judging, otherwise we simply stay home.
