Corrected (as per Sophia and Jancie) Congratulations to CH STAR A-CROSS TEXAS DOB MANN for winning the Breed at the National from the Veterans class. Bubba was whelped on 03-07-01. He was sired by Ch Ravenswood Southern Cross out of Ch Embar's Zena Dob Mann. He is owned by Elvis & Sheri Stulting of Houston, TX and was bred by Edd E Bivin & Irene Bivin. I think your results are wrong -- I was told the Veteran dog won the breed --Bubba (CH. Star A-Cross Texas Dob Mann) handled by Theresa Nail. I heard both Veterans looked great!!!!
Special congrats to Davida Roof and her fawn bitch - ZEN - on getting an award of merit!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bred and Owned by Jordan Goldblatt and Davida Roof, DVM. ZEN is out of Meadow Monster and Ch. GNR's Girls Got Rhythm. Zen is Monty's 5th AOM winner at the Nationals :D.
Once again, this year, only seven AOMs were given out -- not really sure what that can be accomplishing. Exhibitors (the little people) work really hard to get their dogs ready and bring them to the National -- why not just give out the three AOMs??? Just by looking at the catalog -- I could have easily found three more worthy specimens. But this seems to be a continuing trend -- to make some kindof statement -- not sure about what.

I think Info dog says CH TALLADEGA'S AMERICAN THUNDER won the Breed... unless I am reading it wrong http://www.infodog.com/RESULTS/2008075904/200807590434200.HTM That is really odd... but this is the cut and paste from Info dog:
B 33 CH TALLADEGA'S AMERICAN THUNDER NA NAJ NJP. WS 11652501. 01-19-05
By Ch Talladega's Thunderhawke - Ch Walkaway's Boot Scoot N Boogie. Dog.
Owner: Michelle Kramer & Jim Lauver., Cincinnati, OH 45211. Breeder: Bebe McManus.
BWT, Gwen's bitch CH MI-TI'S DOUBLE STANDARD, by Ch Cha-Rish Star Quest Blu-J's - out of Ch Mi-Ti's Good Intentions won the Top Twenty. She is bred and owned by Carol Silverman & J Laverdiere & S Baker, handled by Gwen L DeMilta. Oddly, she did not receive an Award of Merit, yet she won the Top Twenty.

Thank you Sophia and Janice :) and apologies to Bebe… and to Bubba’s owners. To say that we have not been too enthused about this National would be an understatement, and I simply did not double check the Infodog results.
As I understand it, we are not alone in being less than enthused about this National. Entries were down, and there were apparently lots of absentees. Some want to attribute the small entries and even lower attendance numbers to this country's financial situation, and that must play some role, but I think that the hard cold fact is that people are tired of the same-old - same-old and are simply not willing to waste thousands of dollars on certain judging panels any more. I have spoken to others who feel the same. Our decision not to attend was made months and months ago and had nothing to do with this country’s economic situation.
