I'm sure many of you have been following events in Missouri around the suicide of a young girl who was bullied via the internet and ultimately committed suicide. Here's an interesting article about how the changes to Missouri law resulting from this tragedy are having an effect in the larger community:

I think we're going to see internet bullying laws get stronger. This will bear watching as the Doberman community sadly lays claims to one of the nastiest cyberbullies I've ever observed.

This is a very interesting case overall. I have followed it since hit the news.

First off, I agree Athy, it is going to change the legal landscape regarding cyberbullying.
Some of the individuals in the Doberman Community will have to be extremely careful. It will be interesting to watch how this unfolds and how it will effect our corner of the world.

Now, what the heck was that woman thinking getting involved in a silly issue between children. Other then to tell the offending offspring to knock it off, I can't imagine inserting myself into a childish game of name calling.
I do not think she is responsible for the child's mental issues, they were there before the Cyberbullying ever started. The parents and the child have ownership of that issue.
BUT, give me a break, stop your kid from being such an ass, huh? Some people wonder why the kid acts out in an inappropriate manner, the parent is role modeling it for them!

It's one thing when something is said that's true, that people need to be warned about, although some things are better left unsaid, true or not. It's quite another when something is said with no basis except heresay. Don't people realize how damaging something like that can be? Having been a victim of this harrassment myself and still am occasionally by the same group of bullies, I feel terrible for anyone that falls prey to this type of treatment, and there should be strict laws in place for this. Do these bulliers get some sense of pleasure out of doing such things?

I think people on all types of forums do that stuff to act out their own frustrations.

It is also in that one person has to be the major authority and when that is threatened then the bullying begins.

There is a lot of trouble on posting on public forums.

People can hide and get away with murder. They have violated the first amendment and get away with it. Words become weapons.

Then it becomes a matter of wits and who has the most creative punch. I too have been a victim of cyberbulling which is why I post very sparingly on any forums.

That's a shame because then the exchange of thoughts and thinking becomes paralized in a war of words. And then becomes a task of "one uping" another. It is thus dangerous and hurtful; and, people get caught up in it similiar to an addiction.
