Akido San Dobermans is pleased to announce that Alex de Akido San will be shown in the US during the 2009/2010 show season by Ms. Ann White. Alex is co owned by Dr. and Mrs. Anthony DiNardo.
We will be posting photos in the months to come

I have no idea how long they will keep Reigny out. They can't be too happy about Florida... I'd imagine she'll go through the Garden, but it seems that if she was going to do it, she would have by now. I suspect that judges have a problem with her movement (especially in the Group Rings) and when they have the choice of a better moving dog, they go with it. Much as her profile was lovely, when she took a step things fell apart. Stand on the down-and-back sometime and watch her come and go.
I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens in the months to come. Maybe Ann will just be showing Alex as a class dog. I posted the above for them, based on an email we received and their permission to announce this. Maybe there was a problem with Spanish to English translation. I have no idea if he’s finished yet in the USA… he may not be. Dobequest lists Alex, but not his pedigree or other information… http://www.dobequest.org/profile.php?DOGID=40173 But Dobequest has the name as Alex di Akido San. Small error, but annoying.
Maybe Alex is only coming to the USA /White to get his AKC title. Hard to say. Seems like a lot of effort when Puerto Rico is closer and cheaper and the point schedule is so low you could finish the dog in a long weekend. But who knows?
From our experience, breeders outside the USA are more awed by our show ring than we are. We all take a lot of this stuff in stride… we read the ads, scan who the judge was, who the handler was or what the “marketing package" was and we just don’t get too spooled up about it. I guess it looks more impressive from the outside looking in.
Seems to me that the Whites (and breeders like them) have this figured out. We should all sell dogs all over the place. No question that the $$$$ market is outside the USA. Look at the volume of dogs being bred in South America. Look at the number of dogs on the sites of SA breeders. The sheer volume is larger than ours. (Must be a lot of good homes in SA :D , but really, who's being fooled, and what does it matter if the goal is just to sell?) Breeders like White and their protégé Polanco make a profit selling outside the USA… seems to me that it's about profit... about making a profit selling dogs... so you breed the numbers and chase the wins. Yeah!!! Go Jim!!! Why fight it? Look at the numbers... look at the adulation these fine folks receive. Oh Yeah!!!
So some of these dogs come back to the USA and show here, best case scenerio this is good for the breed, after all, they are sometimes our bloodlines coming back in a generation or two. Worse case, they are changing our breed standard... shifting it more towards the FCI standard... which we might want to take a look at. But really, if it's all about winning and selling more dogs, who cares about the Breed Standard? Right? Just chase the numbers and the wins.
Maybe we all should see the handwriting on the wall. Heck, with the Breed Specific Legislation, bans on ear cropping and tail docking and mandatory spay neuter, we’d all better learn Spanish or get out of dogs.
Which reminds me, when have any of these people lifted a finger to support any legislative effort we've ever had, or pushed an agenda to promote credible medical research to develop reliable heath tests to screen for genetically transmitted diseases.

If it means anything, the engines blocks I have casted for the last 7 years will be made in South America soon.

Elaine:
Your statement reflects what I said in a string awhile back which stated that people are in this business to make money. The laws of economics state that people do not stay with things to lose money. That is just econ 101.

Golly. In my world, sometimes people do things because they actually enjoy it. It was called a "passion"... I guess thatls in the past too? Rats! Because that was the only thing I was in this sport for...

Hmmm? I was watching the video of the people arriving for Westminster (on the Westminster KC link)… and there is Dave Frei in some of the clips, promoting the sport. Dave is and will always be an anchor to the very best of what this sport is and should be about… the dogs and our love of breeding and exhibiting good dogs.
Which reminds me how far off track this thread is... Here's to Alex de Akido San... and here's hoping that he is a great success and fulfills every one of his owners and breeders dreams. :)

Look at the Indy winter classic results thread, it is a bit cramped and Elaine has already expressed her disgust for Roy Jones:D
