UPDATED: BSL to be Removed from NM House Bill 667

[Friday, February 13, 2009]
Representative John Heaton's office has confirmed that HB 667 will be amended to remove the breed-specific provisions. The AKC Government Relations department thanks all those who called, wrote letters, and emailed their representatives about this important issue. We will provide additional information once the amended text is available.

They probably pulled it from legislation after they realise that the rottweiler/pitbull/chow/shar pei cross is the unofficial Dog of New Mexico. We used to call it the Land of the Flea, Home of the Plague. Wow, now that they have pulled that, it almost makes me want to go back to address all of the breed discrimination at the local officials level...NOT!
