Oh Julie, he’s grown so much, he’s really starting to look like one of the big boys.
Btw, I met a lady at our George Alston Handling Seminar over the weekend… she has a Ditotima bitch… I am drawing a blank on her name… her bitch is pointed.. has a few breeds from the classes.
This is her first Beardie, she loves the breed, wants to “buy a male and breed to her bitch.” I told her not to buy a male, rather, find a good male that compliments the bitch, do a breeding and save room in her home to be able to keep the best of what she breeds. I tried to stress that choosing a breeding partner for her bitch as an 8 week puppy (when you purchase a puppy) is a recipe for disaster (or mediocrity). :o I urged her to choose a sire based on what she will see in the mature bitch… and choose a sire that is mature… blah blah blah.. you know the speech. :D I asked her if her bitch was line-bred bitch or an outcross, and she didn’t know… so I told her to go to a few Nationals… see as many Beardies as possible and as many breeding combinations as possible, wait to breed until she knew the breed so well she could look at the pedigree and form a mental picture of the dog based upon what the pedigree tells us the dog should look like.
She is coming out to Seattle to see a friend… she may contact you. (but since I can’t remember her name, how will you know right?. :p So, I’ll go back through the club files and find her name… she is very nice… needs a bit of advice.
I had my hands on her bitch… she needs a bit of body, a bit more substance and a better shoulder…I would like better muscle mass overall, but she is nice. I couldn’t help but think of breeding her to that male from the late 1980’s that we liked, what was his name CH. Shilshone’s Charlie Charcoal (something like that)… wonder if he produced well. I also thought that Patrick might be very nice put to her bitch.
I hope you find her name.
If you remember Pat McDonald and Susan Lybrand owed a male named "Andrew" Ditomia Bare Necessity ( want to say) Might be wrong. Anyway. Ditomia is an English kennel.
I will keep my eyes and ears open for her. I have Patrick entered at Seattle for 2 days. I have Dixie showing him on Sunday.
You know, Charlie Charcol is on both sides of Patrick pedigree. Love that dog. One of the reasons I picked Patrick. But I really like Patricks father best!! Charlie is 3 generations back on both sides but hell who cares!
Thanks for the kind words about Patrick. He is growing up to be quit a nice boy.

I remember how much we loved Charlie… loved the dog… that must have been what, 1989? There is something really lovely about knowing that he is in Patrick’s pedigree… that Charlie lives on through Patrick. I was thinking that Patrick’s substance and overall make an shape was reminiscent of Charlie. Sunday when I had my hands on the Diotima bitch I was thinking she needed a whooping measure of Charlie. :)
Let me know how you do at Seattle… btw, where is the show held?
It is held in our qwest field exibition center. It is where the seahawks play.
I used to hate the seattle show when it was in the exibition hall. Hate this one also.
Couple of weeks I going to Bremerton. Remember my first show with Satchel there? Oh the days of innocense.:p

Yeah, Seattle sucked....
I remember showing Satchel as a Special at Puyallup because you had Rosie… I was right behind you… I kept showing the judge ( I think it was Dolly Ward) that Satchel had beautiful layback.. and she kept walking across the ring to check what the heck I was doing… she’d feel around at where I was showing his withers, then walk back across the ring… and you started to laugh… ahh the good old days.
I had Rosie!!!???:eek:I can't remember THAT! I do remember you showing Satchel. Those where the days. Kind of fun to remember back to those days. I think of you on the 21st in Brememrton. That is for sure.

Rosie... she was a really nice red bitch… finished very fast.. as a puppy... I can’t remember who you were showing her for… I sort of vaguely recall the woman who owned her… maybe Billie was the woman’s name… it was so many years ago.
