At times it seems that we need a forum within a forum here… there is no other way to understand all of what goes on in dogs without asking (and answering) blunt questions. I have filled my private message space with a very interesting conversation, that unfortunately can not really be made public, in part because it would have to be sanitized too much, to the point of being less than informative or even accurate. Being around as long as I have been, I know where the bodies are buried, and who buried them... and its rather clear I'm willing to talk about it. ;)
When it comes to trying to understand what the heck is really going on in dogs, the best piece of advice you’ll ever get: "NO matter how long you’re in dogs, NEVER assume you know or understand all that is going on. NEVER.” There is always some hidden agenda or undisclosed set of facts that has an impact one way or the other on what is going on. ALWAYS.
Sometimes the agenda is so stupid and petty (like the McNealy/ Cyberdobes vendetta against DAR&E), that is transparent as glass. Other times it is much more complicated and subtle… but trust me, there is most always an agenda. And alliances shift like the breeze. E.g., Gwen and Sophia were buddies for a time to promote Monty, and then enemies. Michelle and Sophia were buddies, and then drifted apart... not sure if they're on again or not. Tony and Gwen awere close, then split, then came together again. It goes on and on and on, pretty much like a revolving door. After over 30 years of watching this I would say that in general, your long-term friends will probably NOT be in your own breed. Some of my longest friendships in dogs are with people in other breeds even other Groups. And after watching this all for so long, not much surprises me anymore.
When it comes to breeding, the best advice I ever got was to read Raymond H. Oppenheimer's 20 Principles of Breeding Better Dogs

So, what's the best advice you ever got in dogs?
