Michael Vick was released from prison today.
In my opinion his sentance far to short and far less painful then it should have been.
I have heard it discussed that this absolute piece of crap could get a contract with a Team. I have also heard people discuss that this " poor guy's" career has been ruined over a dog or two.
It absolutley enrages me and I never hold back when I hear it.
We need to remember what he has done and not let anyone else forget it.
The NFL needs never to forget what one of their star athletes did to these dogs.
Best Friends Sanctuary has several of the dogs still. Most of the dogs there can't be placed because the mental scars are far to deep. Some are still awaiting a forever home.
Georgia, a sweet and gentle girl that had all of her teeth removed so she would be more compliant to breeding or worse, sparring with one of the other dogs, remains. She is safe and happy there. Cared for by the trainers and staff of Best Friends.
When I see what he allowed to be done to her and the others, he never should have left lock up. "The Dommer" was the only fitting thing for him.
Remember and remind others about this. He is free and will do it again. People typically do not change and if they do, not usually for the better.

Right you are Cheryl! Michael Vick should have to pay for a long time for what he did. I believe I heard that he is going to be doing some sort of community service involving young people.. teaching them to be kind to animals!!! What is really frightening is, people who abuse innocent animals often abuse their wives, children.. abusing animals is usually only the beginning.. they often move on and become even more abusive. They become more emboldened.. more outrageous in their deeds.
We can only hope that if an NFL team picks him up, there will be a huge backlash.. but I am not optimistic about that. Sports are too much a part of the culture.. win at any cost!
God bless little Georgia.. it is difficult to conceive what this poor little girl went through and the torment that still must be with her.... and thank God for the good people at Best Friends Sanctuary for the good work they do every day.

Sadly, this is very true.
Arthur and I were just talking about Mr. Vick. Far as I am concerned, he crossed a line that he can not come back from. If he had an ounce of decency he'd simply fade away.
But Vick should not be treated differently than everyone else. Everyone involved in brutalizing animals should serve a sizable amount of time in jail. I think it is more widespread then most of us realize. I heard from animal control people that dog fighting is as active now around here as it has ever been. And of course, on top of everything else they do, most of these guys use unlicensed ear croppers. That surprised me a bit at first, but it makes sense when you think about it, these guys don’t give a fig about pain and suffering, and for them, the ends justify the means. I think that as a society we need to send a clear strong unequivocal message that we are NOT going to tolerate animal cruelty in any shape or form.

I am militant about it. I loathe these people. The fines and jail time needs to be increased.
There was an arrest in Philly of subject that is a known dog fighter. He had a little bitch there that was used as bait. She has an extreme fracture in her leg that he just left untreated. She may loose her leg from the wrist down. This is this waste of flesh's second offense. He is only receiving 1 yr jail time.
Philly is rampant with this problem. I warn everyone about leaving their pets unattended in the yard.
The 'burbs here are a hunting ground for pitbull bait.
They can get 300.00 on the street for a dog that will be used for bait. A snare pole and two guys can lift a dog Vaako's size over a fence, have him in the car and gone in a blink of an eye.
I was at the Seacacus, NJ shows with Vaako when he was out. They flat out warn you not to leave your dogs unattened in your vehicles there. huge dog fighting area. Announcemetns are made about it throughout the show.
Security to get a dog out of that show is very tight.
The announcement was made that an English Mastiff was missing. The window had been broken and he was pulled out of the vehicle. Now, this story turned out ok. Old boy might have been more then they could handle......he was found down the street roaming around.

No question but that we are all safest and most secure when citizens respect and abide by the laws of our community. Sadly, the world is filled with people running amok, who, out of arrogance, indifference or sheer stupidity, feel that they are above the law.
No doubt there will be defenders of Mr. Vick, just like there are defenders of that convicted felon - Alla McGeary, who’s own vet told her Stella’s condition was within an acceptable range, who’s friend said that Stella was in “great condition” and DAR&E, the organization Alla volunteered for, which was in possession of all the relevant facts, told her to return Stella. A jury of 12 reasonable jurors unanimously told Alla McGeary that she was wrong, yet still she and her supporters persist in a pathetic attempt to paint Alla as a victim. But what else can McGeary and her supporters do? Her supporters look like utter fools for convincing Alla to go so far astray, presumably reassuring her that she would not be convicted. None of them has the wisdom or integrity to concede the obvious, they were all dead wrong every step of the way. It’s about the same with Mr. Vick... no doubt his supporters feel he is a victim of the system.
Depending on how the media spins the story, Vick will always be a victim in the eyes of some folks. And as always, it’s the good people like the folks Best Friends Sanctuary and the folks at DAR&E who pick up the pieces and quietly go along each day, devoted to the care of the dogs themselves.
