I was going through my dog stuff the other day, preparatory to building an evacuation kit for Ms.Bella. As I was laying stuff out, my mind began to boggle at how much extra dog gear I've accumulated over the years. Naturally I thought of ya'll....
So, how much extra kit is appropriate, in general?
And how much more do you have?? ;)
[Horse people -- I KNOW you have extra gear, it's a given. I even have a lead rope & my old saddle from when I was a teenager, and I haven't owned a horse since then.]
I'll start w/what I gots:
Collars:
4 flat web buckle collars, assorted growing Dober Sizes (DS)
1 martingale, DS
1 spare flat web buckle collar in Dobermobile
Leads:
1 Flexilead DS
assorted 2', 4' & 6' flat web leads
2 slip leads
15' & 45' check lines
1 'vet's office' slip lead in car
Harness's:
2 car 'seatbelt'
3 'insta-leash' single girth
1 previously owned servious dog harness :(
Crates:
4 VariKennel or equivalent 400size (DS)
1 " " 200ish "
1 " " 10 week DS
1 folding wire crate DS
1 softsided crate DS
Dog beds for above:
2 square 4" fluffy
2 oval 3" less fluffy
2 sleeping bag style 2" fluffy
+ assorted old EMS blankies strew about the porch
Booties: 2 sets
Jackets/Sweaters: 3+ in assorted pullover & velcro styles
Plus 2 more 'dog show buckets' o stuff to go through....
All for (currently) one dobergirl, who was certain that being fitted with a harness IMMEDIATELY reduced the range of motion in her shoulders. :p
I'm thinking that appropriate numbers are:
1/ea per k9 'in service', so to speak
+1 for portable/evacuation/backup
& maybe a third for possible fosters/ sick dog isolation?
What say ye?
