Hi Listers,
In continuation of my efforts to provide detailed information on the Indian Dog aficianados, I would like to respond to Elaine's request by giving you a brief over view of my romance and fascination with the breed, which began in 1974, with the acquisition of my very first Dobermann, who surprised me by becoming a Champion, albeit after a few hiccups.
Since then, I have owned and bred a few. My showing, as has my breeding been on a very limited scale and believe you me when I say very limited, I mean just that. My dogs live with me and have the run of the house and garden, though I do have a safe house when the need to segregate arises, e.g. female in season or visitors etc etc.
My very first Champion was Chapelburn von Karinberg and I have had the good fortune to have owned, handled & bred a few home breds. My foundation girls were the g/daughters of Int Ch Quorry di Campovalano, World Winner in 1986, through his son Alban von Nassau Oranien (Ger). Ch Yashban's Orna was a magnificent lady who would and could have won anywhere in the world in the early 1900s and her half sister Ch Firecrest's Fairy Angel had a head piece to die for. What she lacked in forechest, she amply made up for in other departments. Her son, Ch Kola's Baylock of Firecrest only underlined the magnificent head of his dam. Fairy Angel's daughter Ch Firecrest's Autumn Sonata when crossed with a Cactus Cash son, produced a couple of exciting progeny, topmost among them was Firecrest's John Wayne, who fell just short of his championship title, but was a Reserve BIS winner in only his second outing.
Currently, it is my good fortune and pride to be owned by "Decoy" - Ch Jaspar's Cast A Spell (Br. Pan-Am. Latin-Am Gr Ch. BIS Ch Charleston Kalahari, a son of Lex Luthor x BISS BIS Ch Shado-Lans Gem of Jaspar, who is the daughter of Cactus Cash), a red male now almost 3 years old. This year as well as last year, "Decoy" has undoubtedly been the biggest Bred in India winner in his breed with multi board line ups (or board placings). This year too, his record from only 6 outings is quite phenomenal with 4 line ups - a 4th BIS, 6th BIS (twice), a 7th BIS and more importantly, an All Breed Best in Show (BIS) + one Reserve BIS and 4 times BIS Bred in India (BI).
Need to run now - the lure of the lucre cannot be ignored. Need to earn a little more so that I can go to the next dog show.
Cheers folks!
